It’s a short week for the Bengals, who face the Jets on Thursday night. And the Bengals practiced on Monday and Tuesday. And quarterback Carson Palmer practiced on neither day.

To make matters worse, he’s sporting a walking boot on his left foot.

“[It’s] just a sore foot and they just stick you in the boot just to be cautious,” Palmer said Tuesday, according to Kevin Goheen of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “Today’s Tuesday, essentially, our off-day. So [it’s] just a precautionary thing.”

Right. Tuesday’s usually the Bengals’ off day. But this year the Bengals are getting ready to play on Thursday, and they need to prepare properly. To prepare properly, they need their quarterback out of a boot and on the practice field.

We’d say it’s cause for concern, but it won’t matter whether the quarterback is Carson Palmer or Jordan Palmer or Arnold Palmer or Robert Palmer in his current condition, the Bengals will have their work cut out for them against the Jets.
