Calais Campbell a gametime decision on Monday night

C. Campbell

Monday night’s Cardinals-49ers contest may not get many fans excited, but the game means a lot to two floundering franchises. And it may just mean a lot in the floundering NFC West race.

Both teams can’t use injuries as excuses for their poor play this year.

For Arizona, two players -- defensive end Calais Campbell (ankle) and cornerback Greg Toler (foot) are gametime decisions. Four others are questionable, but it sounds like wide receiver Steve Breaston, return man LaRod Stephens-Howling (hamstring), linebacker Clark Haggans (groin) and nose tackle Dan Williams (toe) will be able to play.

For the 49ers, kicker Joe Nedney is doubtful and tackle Joe Staley is out. Cornerback William James is doubtful after apparently suffering a concussion in practice.
