Steelers-Bills one-liners

Shaun Suisham’s fourth field goal of the game lifted the Steelers to a 19-16 overtime win against the Bills.

Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall had 27 of his 151 rushing yards on the final drive, which also saw RB Isaac Redman convert two third downs on the ground.

A sprained foot, suffered on one of the five sacks the Steelers allowed, didn’t stop QB Ben Roethlisberger from scrambling his way to a key fourth quarter first down.

Steelers LB James Harrison took issue with the flag he got for roughing the passer in the third quarter.

Steelers S Troy Polamalu had four tackles, three passes defensed, an interception and a fumble recovery on Sunday.

A drop in the end zone by WR Stevie Johnson cost the Bills their best chance to win the game.

Another big Bills chance fell by the wayside when KR Leodis McKelvin tripped over the feet of S Arthur Moats after a long return on the opening kickoff of overtime.

Said Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, “If we want to be the team that we think we are, and get to where we think we can get, this is a game we have to win.”

The Bills pass defense helped push the game to overtime by shutting down Steelers WR Mike Wallace.

Bills RB Fred Jackson averaged 4.9 yards per carry, but an early 13-0 deficit and a lack of possession limited his usefulness on Sunday.

  1. I’m still proud to be a Bills fan……this team never quits and I would take this team a million times over than the Dick Juron coached teams. Hang in there Buffalo……….better times are on the horizon for this up and coming Bills team!!

  2. Ok Squealers, when the Bills took “other” teams to overtime it was because the “other” teams were overrated or just plain sucked. Now that it has happened to you, which is it? Are you overrated or do you just suck?

  3. As a Pittsburgh-er, and avid Steeler fanatic, I will give props to the Bills. They can run the ball well, Fitzpatrick can put the ball on the money, and the d line is good. They are in a tough division, but they are putting the pieces together.

I’ll take the win, but I think the Steelers realize they need to play better to have any chance of going anywhere (let alone into B-more Sunday night).

For those who love to hate on Ben, and call him soft no less, well I laugh at you because he showed once again he’s the toughest qb in the nfl by running for first downs to win the game on a sprained ankle, which was visible halfway through the game.

    GG Bills & fans.

The fact is… The Bills record doesn’t really reflect who or what kind of team they actually are. Buffalo is a very good team that has closing issues, they could easily be 7-5 right now.

I am and always have been proud of my team. The Bills are a never quit team, just like their fans. As long as Gailey and Nix can somewhat keep this team together going into next season…
The Bills will be one of the top ten teams in the NFL.

  5. cjspiller12 and EJ, you both should be proud of your team. You took the Ravens and the Steelers to overtime. Unfortunately, your record doesn’t really reflect your team’s talent.

I knew 13 points wasn’t going to do it and I knew that the second half would be tough, and wouldn’t you know it, it went to overtime and I thought to myself, this may end in a tie.

My heart aches for Johnson. I saw his post game interview and he looked devastated. He feels his team lost because of him, and I give the man TONS of credit for facing the media. There are a lot of seasoned veterans who would have hid in their locker. He got one thing wrong, though: he will get over it. It’s one game and the next time he’s in that situation, I bet he makes the catch.

  6. The Bills found a way again, yesterday.

Never count this team out, they’ll find a way to lose.

Those two options don’t even make sense in the context of the rest of your post. The two options should be are the Steelers overrated and suck or are Bills been underrated and good.

  8. @joetoronto………there he is again……..only comes on here and talks when the Bills lose, not when they win……don’t watch them, keep your CFL teams Joe….do you ever have anything positive to say? How is baseball and basketball working out there in Toronto Joe? Oh, I know, it’s not. Toronto is nothing more than a hockey town, always will be.
@steelersmichele………..Thanks Michele……nice comment…..true Bills fans stick together, unlike Joeblow from that sorry excuse for a country accross the border.

  9. The Bills are a tough team. Fitzpatrick is awesome. Great D. Next year they get an early 1st-round pick that could help them do damage in the AFC East. Look out New England, Miami and the Jets. Buffalo will be heard.
