Colts suffer another big injury

Just when the Colts thought things couldn’t get any worse, it appears that they’ll have to play without starting cornerback Jerraud Powers for the next few weeks at least.

Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports Powers suffered a broken bone in his forearm Sunday.  It’s uncertain if Powers will go on injured reserve.

While he’s not a big name, Powers was playing very well this year.  He was arguably Indy’s best cornerback and the team’s other starter (Kelvin Hayden) missed Sunday’s game against Dallas with a neck injury.

The Colts will bring their remaining healthy players to Tennessee on Thursday night in a matchup of desperate teams that need a victory.

  1. Right now Peyton and 52 guys from PFT Planet could beat the Titans.

I don’t think too much of the goosenecks in Houston either.

  2. More bad news?!?! Come on, the Colts don’t need this. He may not be a national name, but he is a guy that plays hard every play and now the Colts have to go to the practice squad for a replacement again. Time for some good fortune for the Blue.

  3. Eventually you suffer the same bad luck that every team has to go through. Just be lucky Indy that you escaped for so long. Suck it up and play on.

  4. The loss of Jerraud Powers is clearly the reason behind Peyton Manning suddenly looking more like Jake Delhomme than Jake Delhomme does.

  5. Theres no argument about it, he IS the Colts best corner!! Hayden sucks, he just gets paid big money for some reason.

I think they’ll be ok against Rusty Smith though…

  6. Powers broken arm doesn’t excuse Manning’s play but it does put more pressure on him to keep the offense on the field for as much clock time as possible.

Everyone is wondering what’s up with Manning? Is he having personal problems? Family? Something is just not Peyton like in Manning at the moment. Troubled times here in Indiana.

  7. With the Falcons at 10-2 and looking to coast into home field advantage, and the Colts falling closer and closer to irrelevance, I’m one happy guy.
