Reports: Metrodome roof has collapsed

domeplate

Heavy snow in Minneapolis has caused the roof of the Metrodome to collapse, multiple media outlets are reporting.

Today’s Giants-Vikings game had already been rescheduled to Monday night, but it will now possibly need to be moved to another venue as well.

There’s no word yet on where the game might take place; five years ago, when a scheduled Giants-Saints game had to be moved out of New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina, the Giants ended up hosting the game on Monday night. A more fair choice would be to move the game to TCF Bank Stadium, where the Minnesota Golden Gophers play their home games.

There are no reports of injuries, and no one is believed to have been inside early this morning. The Metrodome roof is inflatable, not rigid. Minnesota Public Radio reports that the roof is no longer visible above the dome’s concrete bowl.
