Quieting the McNabb-to-Arizona speculation before it starts

D. McNabbwas

Deion Sanders -- who I think is oddly underrated as an analyst on NFL Network -- had one of the best takes on the Donovan McNabb mess via Twitter Friday.

“Replacing McNabb with Grossman is like replacing Beyonce in Destiny’s Child with Macy Gray,” Sanders wrote. “She can sang but it ain’t Beyonce.”

His next item was a little less on target: “You heard it from Prime 1st,” Sanders wrote. “McNaab to Arizona. Back to the crib and you will be wanted and needed and you inherit 2 good backs and rec[eiver].”

The McNabb-Cardinals chatter has been around for years at this point. The Cardinals had the chance to go after McNabb last offseason, and didn’t seem overly interested. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic doesn’t expect that to change:

“McNabb has never played in this offensive system,” Somers wrote. “There are allegations that he’s not the hardest working guy in the business. He has no ties to this coaching staff, which doesn’t seem to hold him in as high regard as some fans.”

Darren Urban of the team’s website also doesn’t ever see McNabb on the team. The union makes some sense on paper, but there’s little reason to think the Cardinals will go after McNabb.
