After warning, Finnegan holds Johnson in check

The rematch of Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan was rather uneventful. That’s just fine with Finnegan and the NFL.

We’ll score this one a decision for Finnegan after he held Johnson to only 58 yards on six catches in a 31-17 Titans win. Johnson beat Finnegan for a 12-yard touchdown, but otherwise was unable to get deep despite seeing 12 targets in the game.

Finnegan and Johnson weren’t involved in any extracurricular activities this time around, partly because the NFL warned them throughout the week.

“The NFL really came down hard on us this week with a lot of conference calls, just making sure we represented the NFL well this week,” Finnegan said via the Tennessean. “That’s big for the kids and also for the NFL, and we both knew that. We just wanted a good football game.”

It’s believed Johnson was involved in a similar call. In the end, the players let their play say it all. (And the awful Texans defense spoke the loudest in this game.)

“It was real personal this week and we won. That’s all that matters,” Finnegan said.
