New York Post dogs Giants in a way only it can

There are some negatives to living in New York City, the biggest one being that the rent is too damn high.

But they are also wonderful things, like seeing the back of the tabloids after a particularly painful loss by one of the local sports teams.

Following the Giants’ collapse on Sunday, the New York Post did not disappoint.

It should be a fun Christmas week here.

  1. The Giants sucked
The fans were there for 4 quarters it would have been nice if the players stuck around till the end
    They blew it

Can not blame this one on Eli he put enough points on the board
The D could not hold on for 10 minutes more what a way to end the season

  2. Anyone who thinks they have it tough in their city should try playing in NY.

My favorite was when A-Rod hit his 600th and his hometown paper, the NY Daily News ran the headline “congrats on your tainted record”.

    Wow.

  3. Wow. Amazing. People can easily try to make the punter the fall guy for kicking the ball to DeSean Jackson. But the fact of the matter is the Giants D could not stop the Eagles and Eli didn’t do enough to close this one out. But to stoop this low and take a cheap shot? I guess the pain is just too much for NY.

  4. New York..Classy as always..so gracious in defeat.

    Wouldnt even shake hands…

So sick and tired of all the bashing that my city takes over our bad behavior..there is no excuse and we have been guilty, no doubt..

Why does every other city get a free pass? Especially this gutter?

You call this trash a “wonderful thing”, Gregg?

    Lapdogs

  5. manninghams idiotic refusal to hold the ball correctly started the collapse….
and I still have no clue why matt dodge was even hired. the guy shanks every important punt he can. u know except shanking it this time would have been almost ok seeing how it would go out of bounds but in field goal range.

  6. The Bill Cowher watch is officially ON. Many fans of the G-men rooting for Giants to lose in GB so they can fire Coughlin and land Cowher. Funny how Christmas wishes change so quickly…

  7. That’s not even funny. I swear, there is no redemption in this country. Mike Vick fought Pit Bulls against other Pit Bulls. The most vicious dog there is! If he fought his pit bulls against poodles, or terriers. If that was the case I would understand the hate. But he fought pit bull against OTHER pit bulls! These are the same dogs that almost killed my cousin years ago.

I say get rid of the whole breed.

Let it GO, people. He served his time. He’s square with the house again. Only rapists and child molesters shouldn’t be forgiven IMO. But a guy who used his deadly dogs to kill other people’s deadly dogs and sometimes killed deadly dogs with his hands by way of drowning or electricution.

Who CARES! They are deadly dogs. I used to feed my piranhas live goldfish and live mice and used to enjoy watching them. What? Are you going to say, OMG! He just killed Ben. Michael Jackson sung about him, and mice are so cute. They are mice.

    Jeez.

  8. NY fans can say whatever they want to play this game off as nothing more then a loss. But it’s much more. Stories of this game will be told for as long as football exsists. It’s a game you remember where you were and who you were with. I do not know what was more shocking. The Giants collapse, or the Phillies signing Clifford Lee.

    =======================

Actually, one of the thing Mike Vick admitted to in his statement that went along with his plea deal was that he would routinely put common house pets like poodles and terriers into the pens and watch the pit bulls tear them apart.

So, do you understand the hate now?

  10. Re: My previous post:

The information I reference about the house pets didn’t actually come from Vick’s plea statement, but was included in the report referenced below:

Michael Vick put family pets in rings with pit bulls and thought it was funny watching the trained killers injure or kill the helpless dogs, a witness told federal investigators during the dogfighting investigation that brought Vick down.

In a 17-page report filed Aug. 28, 2008, by case agent James Knorr of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and released Friday under the Freedom of Information Act, a person identified as confidential witness No. 1 said Vick placed pets in the ring against pit bulls owned by “Bad Newz Kennels” at least twice and watched as the pit bulls “caused major injuries.”

The witness said Vick and co-defendants Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips “thought it was funny to watch the pit bull dogs belonging to Bad Newz Kennels injure or kill the other dogs.”

  11. I sure don’t get y u idiots can’t get over it….. It’s been almost 4 years now shut up and let it be. Some u idiots forgive rapists ahead of him. He fought dogs served his time. Deal with it. Give him a shot. He Is trying to redeem himself

  12. I’m too lazy to scroll up, but for one of those guys to even partially blame eli is a joke. For one, their wr’s dropped about 7 balls i can think of off the top of my head, but when eli did do something to close it out and put the giants at about the 15 and a first down, hagan ran an in pattern instead of an out and the ball was thrown to no one. That is overlooked by so many and such a key point of that game. Giants were up by 7 with the clock running and would have had it in the red zone. There is no excuse to blow a 21 pt lead with under 7 to go. No excuse for phillips to go for that pick rather than hit celek etc etc etc. I couldnt sleep last night, but this is a game my kids will see highlights of, and grandkids etc etc etc. Truth is, dodge shouldnt have even lasted this long this season. Hopefully we can have a rematch in Philly for the NFC chip. This reminds me of a game in philly a few yrs ago when Phi was up big and the giants came all the way back and eli hit plaxico with that bomb in OT. I know most people look at the phi and dallas rivalry and giants and dallas, but i take this rivalry any day of the week. The last time NY played Philly in a championship NY won, hopefully that holds true here..zzzz

  13. The Giants defense should buy Matt Dodge a steak dinner.

If he kicked the ball out of bounds and the Giants had lost in overtime, everyone would be killing the Giants D today.

Dodge let them off the hook.

  14. I wonder how many Giants fans remember the deals with the Devil they made during their last drive in Super Bowl 42.

“If they can just get a touchdown, I’ll never ask for anything again…”

As humiliating and absurd as that collapse was, they can take solace in the fact that it didn’t happen in a playoff or title game and the Giants can still make the playoffs by simply winning their remaining two games. But I really can’t wait to see it on NFL replay.

  15. @gmlisti

say what? giants fans will not ever play this coughlin coached one off as just another loss. this one joins the pisarcik, the san francisco fassel collapse in the playoffs, all never ever to be forgotten giants worst moments.

  16. I love this web site. If you post anything remotely perceived as detrimental to the integrity of the league (even if it’s true) your comment is deleted.

All these games are fixed by the league or Vegas, get a clue! Track the success of teams that have built a new stadium. believe.

  17. My Giants are not winning the Super Bowl this year. Tank your last 2 games, help your draft position, and get Cowher in there next year!

    ——————————————————-

As part of training his dogs, Vick and Co. would offer up Retrievers and other strays they would find as “warm up” dogs for the Pit Bulls to tear up, just thought you’d like to know.

That headline is very funny, only in New York!

  19. Regardless of the tastelessness of the photo and headline, one thing is being forgotten here. Mike Vick refused to let this team lose. He was clearly limping a few times in the game, and had his ankle completely give out on him on a play as well. To do that, and still run for nearly 100 yards in the final quarter of the game is the sign of someone that decided whatever he had to do, the Eagles were going to win that game.

Thats something McNabb could NEVER do. Down 21pts, McNabb would have closed up shop and started throwing balls into the dirt while Andy would be furiously calling more pass plays. The Eagles finally have a guy that can will his team to win the Peyton Manning and Tom Brady do when their teams are down. Thats not to say they win them all (see Chicago game) but more often than not, when the game is on the line, these guys get the job done and do some amazing things on the field. Mike Vick just joined that club of ‘put the team on your back and win the game’.

  20. Honestly, as a fan I feel bad for the Giants fans. But the NY Post cover is an absolute disgrace. Thats not funny. Thats not original, or clever. Its cheap.

  21. Yeah the home stadium of the defending Super Bowl champions is a new showplace……oh that’s right it is a 30+ year old dump. Oh yeah, the Colts play in a dump as well, so did the Giants when they won there last Super Bowl. So 3 of the last 4 winners don’t have new stadiums. Great conspiracy theory you have going…

  22. Eli and the offense played great, put plenty of points up. The defense and special teams blew it. Vick and Jackson are a 2 man show in Phili, you have to contain them somehow LOL

I wouldn’t waste time explaining the facts to the ghetto folk on this forum. It is obvious that people that grew up in the same environment as Vick suffer the same kinds of character flaws, and lack any kind of human compassion or understanding of the difference between right or wrong. Little wonder they routinely blow each other’s heads off over something as silly as a “diss”. At least they serve a purpose in keeping the prison and funeral services industries going strong.

    0-6.

    Giants are terrible.

Giants fans… What’s it like getting dismantled by the same guy every game? I mean, it’s only 1 little dude…

Probably the same way it feels to try and accomplish the main reason you play football, which is to win a Superbowl Ring.. You know, the thing you haven’t done since your existence.

And dont talk to be about before the Superbowl was played – The Giants won more of those too.

    Good Talk!

Dude, your star player is the worst sportsman in any sport, period.

Everytime he catches the ball, he gives children across the United States the perfect example of how NOT to act in any competition.

The city of Philly embraces it! Thats why you get pounded, and rightfully so.

Desean Jackson is a great player… But the way he acts (like someone who’s never won anything in his life), he is a goddamn disgrace to your city!

When he finally does take the hit that retires him early – fans around the entire country will cheer, not feel bad for him..
    All because of his behavior?!

    Thats shameful..

I’ll be glad to answer that if you’ll answer my question first: What’s it like to root for a team that does really well late in the season, gets your hopes up to a fever pitch, and then collapses and comes up short every single year for the last 51 years?

    I mean, it’s only one little trophy…

  28. Bluefan seriously, you sound like a crybaby. I was there yesterday, your team lost, just suck it up and take your hits. Your gutless fans talked trash almost the whole game, but would not make eye contact if I turned around to see who said it. They are simply cowards who hide in the crowd. I am pretty sure we are aware of the Eagles failure to win the Super Bowl, you pointing it does not hurt anybody’s feelings. Grow up. As an added bonus, your new stadium seems like a recreation of Veterans Stadium, nice job, your fearless leaders have managed to go back in time to recreate the worst pit that ever hosted a sporting event.

    I’m from Pittsburgh…so I could say it’s only 6 little trophies.
I love how Giant/Cowboy fans talk a ton of trash leading up to the actual game…then if Philly loses it’s just more trash talk…when Philly wins, the ever reliable bailout of a comeback is thrown out in desperation: “How many Superbowl rings do you have”.

Giants/Cowboys fans are turds!! Maybe if your teams merge you’d have more Superbowl titles than the Steelers.
