The Seahawks lost 38-15 in Tampa on Sunday, the type of beatdown they have grown used to. (All nine of Seattle’s losses have come by at least 15 points.)
Seattle also watched Charlie Whitehurst finish the game at quarterback, which has also surprisingly become a trend. Matt Hasselbeck left Sunday’s game early with an “unusual” hip injury that will prevent him practicing all week, according to coach Pete Carroll.
Whitehurst played the majority of Sunday’s loss and averaged 3.7 yards-per-attempt on 18 throws. Carroll said that the team will prepare Whitehurst to start next week’s win-and-in NFC West game against the Rams.
Yes, at 6-9, the Seahawks are very much alive. (Sadly, the 9-6 Bucs will need to win in New Orleans and get help to make the playoffs.)
