Rex Ryan’s “personal matter” apparently includes a third person

A highly-placed source with an NFL team not named the New York Jets recently expressed amazement to PFT regarding the manner in which the Rex Ryan foot-fetish controversy fizzled and died. Though Ryan, the Jets, and the league uttered the words “personal matter” enough times to classify the phrase as a Christmas carol lyric, uploading the videos to a public website makes the situation no more of a personal matter than, say, Rex giving a member of the general public the middle finger on his personal time.

The more likely reality is that neither the league nor the Jets wanted the thing to take on a life of its own, and so the league and the Jets looked the other way.

That said, the situation could still take on a life of its own.

If you don’t believe us, go to MediaTakeOut.com and start clicking links to see what the website claims are photos of Mrs. Ryan, her feet, and someone other than Mr. Ryan touching them.

We’re not sure how long those photos have been available, but we suspect that the folks at the New York Post and other Big Apple tabloids will soon be noticing them.

Then again, the Alt.com profile published by Deadspin last week largely has been ignored. Maybe these new photos will be overlooked, too.

But we doubt it.

Either way, league spokesman Greg Aiello was right. The NFL really is the ultimate reality show.
