Bradford gets $50 million guaranteed, buys a ping-pong table

The Rams made quarterback Sam Bradford the first overall pick in the draft.  The Rams gave Bradford a contract with $24 million guaranteed on signing, and $26 million more likely guaranteed in due time.

So how has he used that money?

He bought a ping-pong table.

Bradford offered up that factoid during an interview with Al Michaels of Sunday Night Football.

Maybe if the Rams beat the Seahawks tonight and qualify for the postseason, Bradford will use his playoff share to purchase a foosball table.

  1. Money doesn’t mean as much to some people as it does to others. Sad that you cannot realize that.

Not everyone that gets a huge windfall goes directly out and buys a mansion, new car or whatever. For all any of us know, he did the smart thing and invested 95% (or more) of it!

  2. He seems like a real good kid, I don’t see him broke within 5 years of his career ending.

    Unlike so many others.

  3. My thanks to a great NFL quarterback, one who will never be forgotten by Packer fans, who will always be able to look back on a great career with the Green Bay Packers, Super Bowl victory and a lot of other great memories…

    …cheers to Bart Starr!

  4. I like him.

A good lookin’, honest, down-to-earth and smart young man…

And of course extremely talented, I think we’re gonna see great things from him for years to come…

  5. Good. Based on the ping-pong table and that cheap, red, flannel shirt it doesn’t appear that the money is going to his head at all.

  6. He leased his Rolls Royce, castle, yacht, and team of Himalayan Elephants but it is just impossible to lease a ping pong table so he had to give in and buy one.

  7. I don’t think we’re gonna read about him shooting himself in the leg at a nightclub in the near future.

  8. At least he’ll get some entertainment out of it, unlike the plethora of players that dump their money into ear rings..

  9. I dated a woman who was his adviser at OU, and she said he was a completely down to earth guy. Additionally, he was very active in the community, and a regular visitor to a number of youth football teams in the Oklahoma City area.

The NFL could use a lot more Sam Bradfords, and frankly, so could the planet.

  10. Did Sam Bradford just come from a “Brawny Man” look-alike contest before doing this interview?

    Just curious.

  11. So you Nimrods really believe that the most expensive thing he bought was a ping-pong table?

The unspoken racist just drips out. “Isn’t he a nice boy (unlike those crazy negroes)?

  12. @importantpftcomment

I think you were being sarcastic, but investing 95% of your income in this economy probably isn’t the “smart thing” to do.

    Right on, lol.

  14. look, cantwalkstraight

u make it so most of the total nimrod ballplayers arent black, and then we wont make all kinds of fun of them.

folks like u have no problem making fun of whites, but it doesnt really stick.

your commentary is the real hate, the rest of us just see the world AS IT IS.

  15. Yea, I remember when people said Ben Roethlisberger is a “great guy” with “family values” as a rookie lol. How did that work out?

They also forgot to mention that in addition to a ping pong table, he bought a pool table, an Escalade, and multi-million dollar home, diamonds for his mom, etc., etc.

  16. At least he’s not one of those idiots who spend their bonus money on a bunch of SUVs with ridiculous rims, gold chains, cornrows, and record labels for their posse.

  17. He looks like he just came from chopping some trees. He bought a ping pong table for his 10 million dollar home and to go with his 500,000 worth of cars and 3 million with of jewelry that got left out of the story.

  18. Look at the police blotter section of this site. 99% of criminals in the NFL are black. But that’s just because police are racist right?

  19. He should have spent something on stickum for his lousy receivers.
Both these teams are a bye for the Saints. Disgusting.

When you comment on a video, you really should WATCH the video and THEN comment.

  21. Should he start shooting people and firing his sperm all over to make more headlines here?

    What is exactly your point?

  22. He bought a ping pong table. It’s a fact, not a factoid. Wal-Mart = “It” not “They.” Common usage doesn’t count.

  23. Sam is a smart Guy! He must have read the book, “Making A Good Brain Great” by Daniel Amen M.D. which says that competative table tennis is the best way to create new, permanent brain cells.
