Brady won’t take Cromartie’s bait: “I’ve been called worse”

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie became front-page news when he called Patriots quarterback Tom Brady an “a--hole” and added “f--- him.” But Brady is declining to respond in kind.

“I’ve been called worse,” Brady said. “I’m sure there is a long list of people that feel that way.”

Brady’s strategy seems to be to kill Cromartie with kindness, rather than rip him with profane insults.

“But he’s a good player,” Brady said. "[Darrelle] Revis is a great player. They have a great secondary. They’re one of the best defenses we’ve faced. We spend a lot of time preparing for them, and what they’re capable of doing over there. To shut down the Colts’ offense like they did is pretty impressive, because we know how good that offense is. We’re going to be ready to play.”

For Brady, making headlines with trash talk isn’t a priority this week.

“We’re just going to do our talking on the field,” Brady said. “That’s the way we’ve always chosen to do.”

As for whether all the talk will mean anything, Brady said, “We’ll see Sunday at 7:30.”
