Bears expected to fortify protection Sunday with Desmond Clark

Des. Clark

12-year Bears veteran tight end Desmond Clark expects to be active for the NFC Championship, a rarity after a season where he has mostly watched from the sideline.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times points out that Clark tweeted the news Friday.

“88 will be on the field Sunday,” Clark wrote, referring to his jersey number. “Here we go 88 fandom!!! Let’s get it on.”

Clark hasn’t been active since October, but he could add another layer of pass blocking insurance. If he’s active, Jensen believes wide receiver Devin Aromashodu could be on the sideline.

The news could be an early indication that Chicago is going to do everything possible to max protect and keep Green Bay’s blitz’s at bay.
