The Jets announced Saturday that they have signed defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu to the active roster and waived cornerback Isaiah Trufant.

Tevasu was on the practice squad. The move can be seen as insurance for defensive end Shaun Ellis

The Jets added Ellis to the injury report as questionable Friday after he missed practice with a knee injury. While Ellis is fully expected to play, Tevasu adds another body for the defensive line rotation should anyone get hurt against the Steelers.

Waiving Trufant is a sign the Jets don’t plan to keep 11 defensive backs active on gameday again. No surprise there.
