Will Allen expected to be cut by Dolphins

W. Allen

The NFL said during their media session Thursday that nothing is preventing teams from signing their players to long-term contracts before March 4.

Nothing will prevent them from releasing players in February either.

Dolphins cornerback Will Allen is one of the players expected to be added to the current 495 players scheduled for unrestricted free agency this offseason, whenever this “offseason” really begins. Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel writes the Dolphins will dump Allen after he missed all of 2010 on injured reserve.

The move is no surprise to put it mildly. The Dolphins have Vontae Davis and Sean Smith at cornerback, while Allen was due $5.5 million in 2011. He’s only played six games the last two seasons.
