Ben Roethlisberger has an easy Media Day

Ben Roethlisberger was asked at Super Bowl Media Day whether he felt any anxiety about potentially facing hostile questions about his personal life and the sexual assault accusations that led to a four-game suspension at the start of the season.

“I don’t know about anxiety,” Roethlisberger said. “I tried to be prepared.”

As it turned out, Roethlisberger didn’t need to be prepared for much other than the usual Media Day questions: So far he has faced a mostly friendly press corps, and he’s had an easy time of it: We’ve seen Roethlisberger joke around, laugh, and talk about how The T Ocho Show is some of his favorite television.

From all appearances, Roethlisberger is poised to make it through Media Day — and through the whole Super Bowl week — with more people talking about his potential to earn his third Super Bowl ring than talking about his status as a man who has been accused of sexually assaulting two different women.

Roger Goodell probably would have cringed at the thought of this five months ago, but Roethlisberger is the player getting the most attention during Super Bowl week. And most of that attention is positive.

  1. Wow, going from being accused of rape just 6 months ago, and now he’s already engaged to be married…

Does anyone find that a little odd?

  2. Hey ben, maybe you can call charlie shean after the game and instead of going to disney world you can party with him and the whores, I mean Porn stars. Just make sure to write a check for at least 30,ooo dollors. And talk to magic, he’s got some good doctors if you need them.. Go Packersssssssssssss

  3. They’ve probably been threatened not to ask questions about any of it for fear of being tossed out of Jerry World. I’d be curious to know if Ben has been put under house arrest by the coaches during this week!

  4. Big Bentnose loves to flip over to the T Ocho Show when things get boring on the Cartoon Network.

  5. I bet Peter King would not misquote the commish if it was something related to Brady and the Patriots

  6. Goodell, a lawyer by trade, had no business and should not tell Peter King confidential conversations, that went on between himself and Ben. Goodell has shown what a classless arrogant PIG HE IS. How can the players Union confide in a guy when it comes to the CBA

  7. newreality1

You have alot of crust…At least when you bust balls ..spell the words right…it’s dollars…not dollors….

    oh and BTW… GO STEELERS

  8. Does anyone ‘find it a little odd’ that someone with the post-tag of “marvsleezy” would even think about making the ‘non-football-related’ comments he/she makes?

Let’s keep it to football folks. The rest of this is getting really old and really boring. Sunday is going to be the best Super Bowl ever played.

    GO STEELERS!

  9. ok then I do not want to read any more preaching morality articles on pft and about what type of person he is/was or how he refused to answer any tough questions. you guys are there right?why aren’t you asking them?

  10. He SHOULD have an “easy media day.” Especially now that King admitted he made up the whole thing about Ben’s Steeler teammates not supporting him — whoops! turns out the Goodell was talking to players from OTHER teams who said some stuff about him. Yeah, like somebody from the Browns or Ravens is gonna talk nicey about Ben. What a joke all the way around, from Goodell to King.

King admitting he was wrong pretty much sums up how unfounded that whole trashy Sport Illustrated article was.

If anything Ben deserves a public apology for this misinformation being spread about him.

  11. Im sorry, your right , Im at work and was typing fast so my boss would’nt catch me. Thanks dubs7 By the way did I hyphonate properly?

  12. Godell had absolutely no business commenting on an internal NFL investigation.

Ben represented himself and the Steelers well today.

  13. I’m so sick of all of the media’s questions being about irrelevant things like the Super Bowl. TALK ABOUT MILLEDGEVILLE, DARN IT!!!

    /

  14. It’s sickening that the NFL wants a scumball rapist to be the face of a championship. They gave the Steelers the game in Miami (fumble) and they gave them the game against Baltimore by calling back the Raven’s TD punt return and calling DEFENSIVE holding against the Raven’s on a Steeler’s 3rd down running play from the 2 yard line with time running out.

    Shameful!

  15. I don’t ever — and I mean EVER — want to hear another word about how the league “favors” the Steelers.

Goodell crossed the line releasing that Ben information RIGHT BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS STARTED. That’s meddling in the on-field game, not to mention showing his petty little grudge he holds against Roethlisberger. Think he’d do that if Brady were being investigated? Uh huh.

Goodell has gone too far — King had the guts to retract, but Goodell is his source in the first place! Let’s hear from YOU Goodell, for your violation of conduct.

  16. Instead of an easy media day, I’m sure Ben would have preferred an easy coed or two. That way, he can leave his off-duty policemen at home and there would be no need to watch the door.

  17. You know, I’m not a Steelers fan and the only real reason I don’t like Roethlisberger is because he doesn’t wear a Dolphins’ uniform. But to keep attacking this guy for crimes he was never charged with is just wrong. Say what you will about lack of evidence or paying off witnesses, but the fact still remains that Roethlisberger was never charged with anything.

That said, as a credible working journalist why would you want to ask a totally irrelevant question in a room full of your peers? And if you did have the cojones to ask him something about it, what the hell would you ask that hasn’t already been addressed one way or another?

By every account, and whether or not he has changed his way, Roethlisberger has definitely earned his reputation of being a jerk and has definitely had a few questionable encounters with women. But to keep lambasting the guy for something even more questionable is just wrong.

Goodell – and apparently Peter King – need to find something else to focus on.

  18. Wow, going from being accused of rape just 6 months ago, and now he’s already engaged to be married…

Does anyone find that a little odd?

    ————————————————–
Nope, since any drunk (i mean anyone) can accuse another of anything. But, since no crime was proven, what so odd? Just because a few jealous fans of other teams want to keep bringing it up, it doesnt mean anything.

  19. Roger swept the Spygate investigation of his buddy Kraft’s team under the rug.

He had no problem publicizing the private details of Ben’s investigation.

Time to fire this unethical excuse for a “commissioner.”

  20. Am I the only one who thinks Santonio Holmes never got his right foot down on the game winner in the Superbowl a few years back?

Watch the tape closely, he never gets the right foot down.

    Just sayin.

  21. List of great persons based on the fact that they were “not indicted”:

    Adolph Hitler
    Mao Tse Tung
    Joseph Stalin
    Ben Roethlisberger

“Not indicted” means that the presecutor did not believe that he would be able to obtain a conviction, not that the person is “innocent”. “Innocent” is also not the same as “not guilty”.

just you, some steeler haters, and a few cardinal fans. Everyone who actually seen the play knows it was a great pass and catch from two great players

    just sayin

  24. It is a sad day when Ben Ruthlessraper represents the NFL in the biggest game of the year! This chump would have never played this year if he had been anything other than a white player on Rooney’s politically correct coached football team. Face it, he is a scuzzball who brings down the game. How can anyone tell their kids that this is someone to look up to? To model their game after? I am sick that this trash is allowed to be held up as an example to the young up and coming athletes of America!

  25. It is time for the NFL and Goodell to start throwing this and all the other trash out of the game! Bring some integrity to the sport and show some real mettle. The problems with primadonna pros would soon fade if there were real consequences for their actions! Get charged with this and see how long you keep your job anywhere else! The win at any cost mentality is not a long term solution to the continuity of the sport and it is a shame that these greedy owners and shameless players can’t realize this. It is time to show some common sense morality and send a few of these cretons to the curb!

  26. jeb68

Get Jeb a tissue !!! Ah…your right..The Steelers must of got lucky for all our wins…
    MAKE SENSE..
Don’t blame you..I’d be pissed to if my team continued to get beat year after year by the Steelers.

I’m guessing the only thing you can do is complain about bad calls…check the stats…we are one of the most penalized teams in the NFL…GO STEELERS

Are you serious??? You are one ignorant SOB. To compare Roethlisberger with Hitler, Tung and Stalin just shows your extreme insensitivity and probable illiteracy. The factual crimes of Hitler, Tung and Stalin IN NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM compare to the accusations levied against Roethlisberger.

And for the record, Hitler was never tried for his obvious war crimes because the coward committed suicide; Stalin died of a stroke while still leader of Russia; and it could be logically argued that Mao Tse Tung did more good for China than any of his predecessors.

Get your facts straight before you make such an idiotic comment.

Funny, I wonder if I’m the only one who thinks the ball actually scraped the ground for Larry Fitzgerald’s catch in the Super Bowl a few years back.

Watch the tape closely, that ball looks like it made contact with the turf.

    Just sayin.

  29. The last i checked we all make mistakes….our mistakes shouldn’t define us…it’s how we respond afterwards. Give the guy a chance to change….to be better.
