Vick will host Super Bowl party in Dallas

As Eagles quarterback Mike Vick embarks on the first offseason after his return to superstardom, fans in Philly will be worrying that he could commit the one false move that could knock him out of the league for a long time.

They can start worrying now.

Vick will host a Super Bowl party in Dallas, according to TMZ.

The good news?  The Friday night soiree at Deux Lounge will include multiple security measures, including Vick bringing his own private security team, the NFL providing a security detail, the club using extra members of their own security staff, and guests being searched as they enter.

The manager of the club also has hired three off-duty members of a local SWAT team.

It makes sense to take these measures given that someone was shot outside Vick’s 30th birthday party last year, but it also makes us wonder whether the rest of the offseason for Vick will entail more parties — and whether the security measures will always be as extensive.  At a certain point, it arguably makes even more sense for Vick to make permanent lifestyle adjustments that entail avoiding any situations in which a small army of security forces will be needed.

  1. There is absolutely no reason to believe that Vick’s offseason this year will be any different than last year- telling this guy to stop hosting parties is like telling Antonio Cromartie to stop having kids.

  2. Jesus, Mike, at some point you have to ask yourself if it’s all really worth it. Maybe just watching at home would be a better idea…

  3. Very few people who make poor decisions and change that habit. First, Rothelisberger out at a bar until 2am the week of the Super Bowl. (If he wants to go out, great. But with the biggest game in the NFL, so much media attention, and his past reputation, to do it on this night was a poor decision) And now Vick is hosting a part at a “Lounge”…Nothing good can come of this.

  4. dumb dumb dumb dumb..
    DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB.

Man who shouldn’t be at parties , will throw one.,
Man who never coached defense , will run one.,

way to go Philly, more of the same outta you guys.
Early reports on the draft have Andy trading down his 1st and 2nd round picks in order to acquire six 7th round picks to draft three 6’2 250 lb DE’s and three 5’8 160 lbs CBs. Cause its all about competition & not talent.

thanks for breaking the mold this offseason , i have nothing but confidence and respect for the FO…..
oh,, i just puked on my desk.

  5. How many chances does this guy need, hes a 30 year old grown man with kids that went to jail for killing his own dogs? I mean most people would be happy having their freedom let alone fame and money…..I also have grasped that the Vick on air does not equate to the Vick actions once outside the locker room.

  6. With the way he played in the playoffs, you’d think he’d be the last guy in the mood to party.

  7. I just had a nice birthday party myself. It was held at my friends house, not a club. Only my immediate family and friends were invited. No one got hurt, no security needed, pretty simple…

  8. What a joke…the NFL has to spend it’s own money so this turd doesn’t get in more trouble

  9. Vick just does’nt get it !……..he has the NEED to PARTA’ !….bring out the bullet proof vests Vick’s having a PARTY…..
Dang Mike, what is your problem. sit at home on your couch and watch the game with family and friends over a few beers, pizza and wings….WHy do you NEED to throw a party at the Super Bowl….This is one messed up dude…..
    ” Cry Eagles cry, on the road to misery,,,,cry Eagles cry…E A G L E S !!!!!!!

I guesss it is the closest the Eagles will get to a Super Bowl….I just love it that the Eagles and Vikings both have never won a Super Bowl,,,but run their mouths the most….

  10. Who said Ben was out until 2 in the morning this week? I didn’t see that anywhere.

  11. Are the NFL Security team and the off duty SWAT team there to keep an eye on Vicks personal “security” team?

  12. I have read about all the security at this super bowl party, there will be no nonsense here plus I guarantee this has been cleared by the Eagles ownership/front office you can bet on that.

  13. Isn’t it amazing that in the old days when people had real values, you threw a party and everyone came over, had a nice time, enjoyed themselves, shook hand and went home.

Now, you hire layers of security guards and hope nobody gets shot or even dies.

Nice friends, nice world you live in Mike. C’mon over for tea and maybe we can line up our next charity event.

  14. Folks the man is obviously allowed to do as he wishes. However it would be in his best interest to not do stuff like this. Where is Tony Dungy to mentor him?

  15. Sweet! I am there!
    Ballistic vest: check
    Make it rain $: check
    Gat: check
    Milkbones: check
All set……man I hope his brother is coming. Those Vick boyz are so nice.

  16. Why must anyone leave a comment with slang innuendo. Get a life. Take time and read the comments under non-black athletes and you will find none. EVER! I have yet to read one country, redneck, etc type of slang comment. Must be nice to be the majority…

  17. Why is the NFL providing ANY security measures for him? It seems as if, like with ol’ Murderin’ Ray Ray, the NFL is going out of its way to market his “second chance”. Vick is a thug, plain and simple. He should be at home with those kids he says he loves instead of at a lounge where things I can’t wait to read about will happen.

  18. What’s the matter Mike. You’re jealous of Big Ben and you’re jealous of Mike Vick too. Frank Sinatra once said “Happiness is every mans own responsibility”. Just because you are obviously incapable of achieving any you try to compensate by rediculing other people who are good at achieving it. Nobody is ever gonna walk right up to you and say, ‘okay, now your happy”. Your lack of self confidence makes you appear to be whiny and wimpy. “Get busy living, or get busy whining”. I guess you choose the later. Ha Ha. Geaux Saints!

  19. The real risk here is Vicks personal security detail. Leave them at home and the risk factor diminishes significantly.

  20. Brings to mind a song…hrmmm…

Gunshots ranged out like a bell
I grabbed my nine, All I heard were shells
Fallin on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper the avenue’s packed
I’m tryin to get away before the jackers jack
Police on the scene, You know what I mean….
    ….Ice, Ice Baby….duh duh duh duh duh-duh-duh-duh….

but maybe its more fun to not know the facts!

If you want to idolize Vick that is your perrogative, but don’t make things up. The NFL is NOT holding the party, nor did they ask him to. Look at the invitations and the club’s website. It is “The Mike Vick Experience”, the sponsor of the party is V7 Sports…gee I wonder who that could be.

The NFL asking Vick to host a party would be like asking Donte Stallworth to teach a safe driving class. Or Plaxico holding a gun safety seminar.

  23. You sure this is Vick throwing a party, and not Mike Vick being PAID to ‘host’ a party at a club in Dallas? If he was offered a $500K to show up and talk to some people for a while…

  24. “The Friday night soiree at Deux Lounge will include multiple security measures, including Vick bringing his own private security team, the NFL providing a security detail, the club using extra members of their own security staff, and guests being searched as they enter.”

The place is gonna have so many cops, it’s gonna look like the Cook County courthouse at the end of “The Blues Brothers”.

  25. In other news, Matt Ryan will have a quiet night at home with his fiancee.

Thank goodness #7 is Philly’s problem.

  26. He’s probably getting major money to appear for all of 15 minutes, then he’ll go to a private room to watch or leave to watch in person. This is a money move to help with that debt. Does anyone really think he would alert the league, ask for their involvement with security, and still act irresponsible enough to wild-out once at the party? C’mon man.

  27. It’s a super bowl party you nerds…just bc none of you have ever been invited to one doesn’t mean you he to hate on the guy for throwing one…

And yea he’s having it at a lounge…it’s not like it’s a trap house retard.

The league doesn’t want him to host anything huh?

  29. If the NFL sees fit that they need to provide an additional security detail for this thing, isn’t that plain proof to Roger Goodell that this party is a really bad idea?????

Is there no one involved with Michael Vick – Andy Reid, Jeff Lurie, the entire Eagles staff including their security people, Roger Goodell, the NFL security people, his “Official Mentor” Tony Dungy, Vick’s agent Joel Segal, Michael Vick’s entire family, and ultimately Michael Vick HIMSELF – who sees this as a really bad and totally unecessary event?

This thing has BAD IDEA written all over it.

Yeah, Vick has really learned his lesson since getting out of prison. Hell, he didn’t even learn from his LAST fiasco, er party.

disagree with everyone…guy’s allowed to party

oh well haters gonna hate, slaters gonna slate
    ———————————————
I don’t agree, but nice “Saved By The Bell” reference.

  31. Sounds legit. Maybe he should invite some debt collectors to get on their good side!

On a side note, does anyone know how I could ahold of Mr. Vick? Im throwing a birthday bash for my pup, and I would love him to host that aswell

  32. Why is this a story? Plenty of players are hosting parties and when the party goes off without a hitch will you report that also? He is also going to host a party in LA, during NBA All-Star Weekend. Most of the people that comment on here are all for the articles of the consitution, but not for Vick. He has paid his debt to society and is hosting a party against the law? Everytime there is a Michael Vick post, the stupid and racist come out in droves. The comments will number in the 100’s, so I guess you have what you wanted. The animal rights lovers who wear leather, hunt and red meat is amain stay of their diet.

  33. no matter whos throwing it,,,, Vick is proving his immaturity by showing up to anything where guns are needed… and they definitely are needed at this…

one guy getting a little too drunk or a little too mad can cost Vick his career and Philliy their gamble in a heartbeat

these guys get the world handed to them… in Vicks case TWICE…. why dont any of them learn…

  34. Can’t see any good coming from this. Unless Vick is hosting a party for free agent offensive lineman so he can wait for his receivers come open.

  35. @jmallymall: I come from the South…there have been and still are some hilarious rednecks in tmy family…a few college educated, but still trashy and narrow-minded. I talk about TRAILER TRASH! My engineer husband, CPA sister with her own business and I with many degrees all use slang, Southern patois, Eminem, Black-Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg references…we’re NOT racist. This stuff is part of our national culture now as is the music. Mike Vick is from my home area, as is Bruce Smith, etc. We all wish our locals well, especially if they stay in-state for college. That said, c’mon, man…is that racist?…if someone acts like a dawg, we get to call ’em a dawg. Brett Farve is a white trash playa with reeeeally ugly junk. Fell better?

  36. All you Philly fans who thought you were going to win the Superbowl this year can go join him. Vick has not changed. Philly, you can have this turd. As always, stay classy Philly.

Like I usually ask of those over playing the race card, please find one comment in the now 60 here that have anything to do with his race. We are talking about common sense and Vick doesn’t have it. Neither does Brett Favre if that makes you feel any better.

    Insanity…I agree.

Look all you Vick apologists most of us get that he’s out playing in the NFL by their choice, paid his debt, it’s “just” dogs and evil racist whitey eats meat etc etc and all the whiny PC crap you all come up with to try to excuse and justify everything he does. You people are simply Favre apologists with a different hero.

The point isn’t that Vick has no right to go on with his life or that he CAN’T change and learn from what he did. The point is that with things like this and despite ENORMOUS support from Dungy, the NFL, his current team, etc. he is showing he is either STILL clueless or doesn’t care about changing his high profile star mentality LIFESTYLE…you know the lifestyle that led him to think his crap doesn’t stink and he doesn’t have to make smart choices? Yeah that one.

  39. I’m having a big superbowl party this weekend too..It’ll be great. It’ll be me and about 15-20 of my good friends coming over, drinking, having a good time watching football. There won’t be any front door security, no dog fighting rings, no fire arms to shoot your own thigh/mistress with..

its amazing how easily you could avoid trouble these days..

why can’t they just make vick a pinata out of a dog and hit it in his backyard?

First, Rothelisberger out at a bar until 2am the week of the Super Bowl
    ===================================

Really?? Do you have any reports to confirm this statement?? Please let the rest of us in on them because it would be extremely hard to believe that it is true.

Vick’s decision to host this party doesn’t seem too smart to me, but nobody is asking me to host a SB party in a Dallas nightclub. He must be getting paid to host and if the NFL is providing security, he must have cleared it with the league office before hand. Would be nice to hear if he consulted Dungy and what his opinion is. Also , with the amount of security on hand, this seems to be the safest possible place to host any party. I would hope he is watching the actual game at home with his kids.

  41. Clueless. No sooner than the idiot gets a check for an advertising contract, he cant think of anything better, or more positive to do other than throw a party. With security no less.
Sure he has every right to do so, not that paying back folks he burned means anything to him. I will continue to stand by my belief that things will not end well for Vicky in the long run. Reminds of a trainwreck like Tyson. All the talent but no class and no clue.

  42. Great topic….. Vick is like when you are driving down the road and you see some dead animal on the side of the street and you just have have…….Whoa DejaVu..

  43. If a war criminal like Donald Rumsfeld is free to do a freakin’ book tour, then I see no reason why Michael Vick can’t throw a party.

Armchair you were right. Just saw the report about Ben and 2 teammates out at a piano bar until 1:15 am. It started out as a take my linemen out to dinner tradition that turned into an $800 tab buying the house a round of drinks. Appearantly guys like Ben and Vick don’t get the idea of perception being reality to the rest of us. Only 2 teammates were reported to be at the bar with him, the rest probably knew better. I still find it hard to believe!!

  45. What a disappointment! I agree with every commenter who called this DUMB AS DOGPOOP! Mike Vick is a good hearted guy sliding backwards right now. And he doesn’t even know it. Swat Teams?! Massive Security?! What an absolute waste of money. That guy sat in Prison and squashed most of his football demons. But the biggest one he can’t handle is that PARTY going on in his head 24/7. For your own sake Mike. You better grow up and turn this teenage party off. And Fast! You won’t get any breaks next time around. And there will be a next time around if you can’t see what everyone else does right now. “You are dancing with the Devil again dude. Call your mama fast my friend. I’m sure she hates this idea. And you need to listen to her for once.

I think the Eagles just decided to keep Kolb. Because Mike is still a reckless teenager at heart.

  46. whats wrong with vick hosting a party? he still has his life to live and untill HE does something to mess things up again i say leave the man alone and let him live his life.btw does anyone out there say stallworth should never drive a car again? or big ben should not be allowed to date again? whats up with all the hate going around i don’t get it.

  47. Think about it like this:
Say you got caught cheating on your spouse. He or she forgives you and takes you back, but is still learning to trust you again.
Would you go have dinner alone with an attractive co worker a few nights a week and expect your spouse to be ok with this EVEN IF YOU WEREN’T TAPPING THAT? Hell to the no..not if you are honest about it.

Now 10 years down the line after trust has been rebuilt? Maybe. It’s all about what is important to you. And if you love your spouse (or in Vick’s case the money and job he has…again)…you do NOTHING even REMOTELY questionable..or your commitment to that person or job SHOULD be questioned. If you can’t be above and beyond board while ON “probation” whether it’s literal probation or actual probation how can you be trusted when OFF of it?

  48. He’s not gonna live like a social outcast just because of a crime in the past. At the same time, he’s gotta be smart about it. I have no problem with him throwing a party for the Super Bowl as long as he has adequate protection, which he does, and doesn’t do anything dumb. It’s not like he was throwing random parties, they were for his 30th birthday and the Super Bowl. I don’t see the big deal as long as he’s protected and stays away from his former associates

CKL answered your question perfectly above. I would just add this. The last time Mike Vick threw a party (1 year ago) someone got shot. His fans, the NFL, and his employer know this and is very nervous about his continued flirtation with disaster at “parties”. It has nothing to do with Vick hate. He makes people jittery with conduct like this. Because he has a history of getting into trouble with questionable friends and associates who attend his parties. I really think most people want him to come all the way back. It would be a great redemption example. But he seems to be mostly focused on the Party in his head and his growing celebrity. All people are saying to Vick here is, “Watch Out!’.

  50. For Christ’s sake Mike just make a friggin pot of chili, a plate of wings, have a few beers and watch the game in your den like the rest of us. You’re just asking for it.

  51. To those of you saying “just watch the game at home!”, the party is on Friday night not Sunday. That being said, a party that requires a SWAT team?!?!? Seriously? The poster on TMZ says the party will cater to the A-list, but I don’t hear of too many Hollywood or New York parties that require such drastic security details. Holy crap – who’s on the guest list?? Rambo & Tony Soprano? Vick is an idiot to have his name attached to this “event”!

  52. @duanethomas and others that say Vick has paid his debt to society:
Don’t get ahead of yourselves. Vick is out of jail but hasn’t quite finished paying his debt to society until his probation is over (22 more months) and pays off his creditors ($15 mil to $20 mil). Until then everything he does can and will be scrutinized.
