A day after USC banned players from attending a Las Vegas party thrown by Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen, the party itself has been canceled.

Griffen blames the cancellation on the NFL, but Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500.com reports the Vikings are believed to have stepped in put a top to the event. Here’s what Griffen wrote on his Facebook page:

“this event is cancled sorry for the confusion and mass text,” Griffen wrote. “the NFL has made the decision this event has got to much media coverage and we are not allowed to bus people to Vegas ..”

Griffen says he was trying to start his “promotions” company, but the Vikings can’t be happy with his timing. Griffen has been arrested twice in the last week -- for public intoxication on Saturday and felony battery. It was later determined he wouldn’t be charged for a felony, but still faces misdemeanor charges.
