Rarely, if ever, does a professional athlete or those close to him say contend that the player had been butchered on an operating table.

The streak continues; Broncos receiver Eddie Royal has posted on Twitter that his surgery was a success, and that he’ll be 100 percent in May.

Per various media reports (including one from Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post), Royal had arthroscopic hip surgery. Despite his claim that he’ll be ready in three months, Legwold says that Royal could be out up to six months.

Legwold also points out that Royal missed no games in 2010, and that he never was listed on the injury report as having a hip problem. He caught 59 passes for 627 yards and three touchdowns.

If the owners lock out the players on March 4, players like Royal won’t be able to get treatment and rehab at the team facility.
