Marion Barber detained by police in Beverly Hills, not arrested

An otherwise slow news day in the NFL is being spiced up a bit by the good folks at TMZ.

The latest report centers on Cowboys running back Marion Barber, who was detained by LAPD officers in front of a Beverly Hills hotel this morning for allegedly “disturbing the peace.”

Police came when SLS Hotel security complained that Barber was being a disturbance. Barber was placed in a police vehicle in front of the hotel but was not arrested or cited. He did, however, agree to check out of the hotel.

The most amusing note from this minor incident comes from Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com, on Twitter.

“Major factual error in TMZ story about Marion Barber,” MacMahon tweets. “Headline calls him ‘NFL star’.”

WOW! Tim MacMahon sure opened up a 16 ounce jar of President’s Day ZING!

  2. Was there ANY player from the NFL not in LA for “Black Thanksgiving” as Mike Wilbon calls it.

  3. They should’ve put him in the slammer. I met MB3, Crayton and Tashard Choice, 2 years ago in Vegas. Crayton was awesome, Choice was quiet, and MB3, was the biggest jerk ever, he also was so much smaller than you would assume, my beer googles/muscles were kickin in and I wanted to fight him. But I did the smart thing and avoided the ass-whooping a la OchoCinco.

So true, he hasn’t been the same since he got paid. That’s why the cowgirls suck they have him and felix “IR” jones. Their best back is third on the depth chart. Way to go jerry.

  5. The cops just advised Barber that if he couldn’t find alternative accommodation to SLS they would be happy to provide him with some.

  6. It’s bad when, as fan, you are now used to athletes getting in trouble. As if we almost anticipate the arrest meter to go back to zero within a matter of days.

Then it’s something in Dallas that changed him, because I knew him in college, and he was a great guy then. Just something to think on, seeing as how there always seems to be a Dallas player or two getting in trouble….
