We pause our coverage regarding the future of the NFL to discuss another pro football league that soon could be history.
With at least three lawsuits pending against the UFL arising from the alleged failure to honor its obligations, other potential legal problems are looming. Paul Doyle of the Hartford Courant reports that the UFL owes Connecticut more than $90,000 for the use Rentschler Field for the Hartford Colonials’ final home game in November. Per Doyle, other creditors include individual contractors, team employees, and Motion Inc., a Hartford-based video company that produced a weekly television show for the Colonials.
Doyle points out that UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue said last month that all bills would be paid in two weeks.
And that was three weeks ago.
And the bills still aren’t paid.
