Troy Bergeron ended last season on the Cowboys practice squad, but he doesn’t want to wait for the lockout to end to get back to work.

Bergeron signed on with the Cleveland Gladiators in a return to his AFL roots. He signed a futures contract with Dallas after last season, but the contract no longer applied because of the lockout. Bergeron also spent time with Atlanta and Buffalo last year.

Returning to the AFL won’t be especially lucrative for Bergeron, so he’s clearly in it for the love of the game. The decision may even mildly annoy Jerry Jones, which is something most players can get behind.
