Mike Brown doesn’t see “value” in trading Palmer

Just in case you didn’t believe Mike Brown the first few time he publicly addressed Carson Palmer’s trade request, the Bengals owner said once again Monday night that he doesn’t plan to trade his quarterback.

“I want him back,” Brown said Monday via Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I haven’t talked to any other team about him. I have no plans to trade him.”

The Dolphins are reportedly interested in Palmer. Other teams like the Cardinals probably would be as well if Palmer was made available. But Brown doesn’t think that would be good business. Brown says there is no one of equal value to Palmer available on the market. (Vince Young’s feelings were just hurt.)

“As far as getting value, I don’t see any opportunity to get what I consider to be value,” Brown said. “Having said that it doesn’t make sense to look to trade. It only makes sense to wait and hope Carson comes around.”

While Marvin Lewis has accepted Palmer won’t play for the Bengals again, it doesn’t sound like Brown has accepted it at all.

As we’ve learned over the years in Cincinnati, Brown’s voice is really the only one that matters when it comes to personnel decisions.
