The author of the most badass play of the 2010 season looks even more badass after some news that broke Wednesday.
Jets wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery told Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com he underwent back surgery on February 3 after playing with a herniated disk throughout last season. He said the condition worsened as the year went on, especially in October.
Often the forgotten man in New York, Cotchery figures to become a starter again next year after Santonio Holmes and/or Braylon Edwards leaves town. In the meantime, he’s stuck having to rehab a serious injury away from the team facility.
“That’s the toughest thing, not being around the people that know my body the best,” Cotchery said. “I can’t even talk to [the Jets’ trainers], that’s the crazy part about it. I like the place I go to, but everything I need is in the Jets’ facility.”
Cotchery says he’s still confident he will be ready for training camp despite the injury.
