Seattle’s Qwest Field is well known for its “12th man” during home games.

There wasn’t quite as much energy around the stadium on Sunday, when roughly 12 men (and women) showed up to protest the current NFL work stoppage. Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times said the fans briefly chanted “We want football” outside the Seahawks Pro Shop.

“They’re squabbling over our money. And it’s kind of ridiculous that their biggest problem right now is how to divide $9 billion. That’s the gist of it,” said a man in a Seahawks-colored lab coat who goes by the name “Dr. Seahawk.”

The players and owners say they care about the fans, but all they really care about is getting a good deal. The reality is that fans are helpless, mostly forgotten, and can’t make much of an impact on the negotiations.

Maybe that’s why only a dozen or so fans showed up to the rally Sunday.
