Titans running back Stafon Johnson is on the road to recovery again.

Last offseason, we tracked Johnson’s amazing recovery from a 2009 weightlifting accident that resulted in a crushed larynx. He enjoyed a strong start to training camp with the Titans before breaking his fibula and tearing his deltoid ligament in the team’s preseason opener last year.

It was a heartbreaking moment, but Johnson is working his way back into playing shape. Doug Farrar of Yahoo! Sports spoke with Johnson last week after he ran for the first time in months.

“I’m just doing whatever God’s put in my way to do,” Johnson said. “Whatever he has for me. I pray that I can be an inspiration to others, to let them know that anything can happen. You’ve just got to keep your mind tuned. I can’t let little things . . . get in the way of where I want to go.”

Johnson is training on his own at the Athletes Performance facility in Los Angeles, and won’t be able to talk with Titans trainers until the work stoppage is over.

Jeff Fisher was a big believer in Johnson, but the second-year back should still have a decent chance to make the Tennessee roster if his recovery goes as planned.
