Robert Quinn improves numbers at Pro Day

R. Quinn

The Dials

Back in February, we heard that North Carolina Robert Quinn had a chance to “blow up the Combine” and potentially put himself in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick.

That didn’t happen; Quinn put up impressive times but it seemed like his year away from football perhaps sapped a bit of his explosiveness. Quinn had a chance to improve his Combine numbers on Thursday and didn’t disappoint.

His forty time went from 4.70 to 4.59. That’s pretty speedy for a 264-pound man. His broad jump improved dramatically to 10’5 1/2, while his vertical jump actually got worse by an inch. His short shuttle of 4.26 seconds and 24 reps on the bench press were also improvements.

Quinn could be the purest pass rusher in this draft. He carries risk, but what defensive lineman in this draft doesn’t?

The way this draft is shaping up, it wouldn’t shock us to see Quinn go anywhere from No. 3 to No. 12 in the first round.
