Greg Cosell gushes about Tyron Smith, Anthony Castonzo

Greg Cosell of NFL Films, one of the brains behind the excellent NFL Matchup show on ESPN, has taken to Twitter.

(We’d love to know what his Uncle Howard would have to say about that.)

Greg, as noted by our corporate brethren at Rotoworld, has posted a message today singing the praises of the top two tackles in the 2011 draft class.

As to USC’s Tyron Smith, Greg Cosell says Smith is the “best athlete I’ve seen at OT in long time.  A stud.”

Castonzo is no slouch, either, in Cosell’s eyes.  He thinks the Boston College product will be a “10 year starting LT.  Not elite athletically but no flaws.  Like Jake Long.”

With the draft approaching, we’ll look forward to more good stuff from Greg Cosell.

Even if Uncle Howard would regard the chosen medium as frivolous, superfluous, and/or cacophonous.

  1. Jake Long is athletic enough. His only gave up 2.5 sacks his rookie, and 4 his second year. He did fairly well last season despite a rough a game against the Bears (when he tore is labrum the prior game). And he has never missed a start. So I would not dare say Jake Long is overrated. He isn’t flashy, he doesn’t create a huge stink in the media. He is just a very solid offensive tackle who gets the job done each week. I mean you want to talk about overrated, Jason Peters made the Pro-Bowl in 2008 after giving up 11.5 sacks. I would say he is way more overrated than Long.

  2. “Look at me” Jerry will probably pull a draft day trade to move down and draft a couple of players who will have trouble making the final roster. He has perfected that move throughout his tenure. Without Bill Parcels or Jimmy Johnson to guide him, he is like a kid in a candy shop. All eye candy, no substance.
