We haven’t caught Hines Ward’s appearances on Dancing with the Stars because we still posses the will to live. Steelers fans, however, are on board.

“We’re getting lots of e-mails and messages about how great he is doing, so there’s no question Steelers Nation is paying attention,” Steelers president Art Rooney II told Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “It’s fun to watch. I haven’t watched that many dance shows, so it’s a little different for me.”

Translation: “I watched five minutes, and don’t want to sound like a jerk about it. Aren’t the 70’s over?”

Ward says he’s getting almost unrivaled fan support and a number of his teammates came out to watch the show. Linebackers James Farrior and James Harrison and tackle Max Starks will be in the audience Monday.

Ward is taking the competition very seriously. He revealed to Brown a sock he was wearing that said simply: “Eat. Sleep. Dance.”

“That’s really all we have time for,” Ward said.

This is what you have reduced us to, NFL. Hope you are happy.
