Add Redskins, Titans to list of teams that would like to trade down

We mentioned earlier this week that the Broncos would love to trade down from their No. 2 overall spot, but it’s going to be difficult.

They aren’t the only teams in the top ten that would like to add picks by moving back. Rob Rang of CBSSports.com reports the Titans and Redskins are also “exploring their options” about moving down.

Their reasons are probably similar. Both teams have a lot of needs, including at quarterback. If Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert are gone, the Titans and Redskins would probably prefer to trade back in the first round, grab extra picks, and then take a quarterback.

This approach is preferable to trading up to get back into the first round, especially for Washington which is missing two mid-round picks. That doesn’t mean the approach is easier.

Everyone wants to trade down; finding someone to trade up is the tricky part. Teams also seem to like the idea of trading down in theory weeks before the draft better than they do in practice when they are actually on the clock and a player they want is available.
