Mayock expects “feeding frenzy” for quarterbacks

Everyone seems to agree that this quarterback draft class is intriguing, but it lacks the elite prospects of previous years. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock doesn’t expect that to slow teams down from reaching for quarterbacks early.

“There will be a feeding frenzy for QBs this year,” Mayock said on a conference call Wednesday.

He think eight quarterbacks could go in the first three rounds, which would be the most in 60 years. Mayock wouldn’t be surprised if Jake Locker, for instance, goes at No. 10 to Washington or No. 12 to Minnesota. (Silva wouldn’t be surprised either.)

That type of pick comes with a lot of risk.

“I think there’s a panic among teams that need quarterbacks. The worst thing you can do is reach for a quarterback and miss,” Mayock said.
