Receiver Brandon Marshall, no stranger to off-field issues and curiously inflicted injuries, reportedly has been hospitalized after a stabbing.

Adam Schefter of ESPN, citing two unnamed sources, reports that Marshall is in intensive care after being stabbed by a woman.

As Schefter points out, details are sketchy. It’s unclear, for example, when the stabbing occurred.

Since being traded last year to the Dolphins, Marshall has avoided controversy. During his time with the Broncos, however, Marshall faced a criminal trial on battery charges arising from an incident with a former girlfriend and a DUI charge, two of four total arrests and numerous other domestic complaints.

The league eventually suspended Marshall three games for violating the personal conduct policy. The suspension was reduced to one game on appeal.

Marshall also was knee-deep in the altercation that resulted in the shooting death of cornerback Darrent Williams. Marshall’s testimony at the trial of Williams’ assailant left no doubt; Marshall believed he was the real target of the killers.

UPDATE: Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Marshall is in “no imminent danger.” He also has more details regarding the incident.
