Pats can now conduct a Mallett-Dalton-Kaepernick auction

With four quarterbacks going in the first 12 picks and none in the next 20, three big names remain at the position.

And the team that holds that selection, the New England Patriots, has 18 hours to field offers for the ability to come up and take one of them -- Ryan Mallett, Andy Dalton, or Colin Kaepernick.

Teams that could be considering a quarterback in round two include the Bills (No. 34), the Bengals (No. 35), the Cardinals (No. 38), the Redskins (No. 41), the 49ers (No. 45), the Raiders (No. 48), the Redskins again (No. 49), and the Seahawks (No. 57).

Regardless of what happens, the Pats have plenty of time to call each of those teams to see which of them would be inclined to make a move, and then to leverage any interest into an all-out auction.
