Cam Newton gets his playbook and a little grief

Cam Newton was all smiles on his first day as a Carolina Panther.  He got a playbook, met some teammates, and hugged the team’s owner Jerry Richardson, who admitted that he likes Newton personally “a lot.”

Richardson told Tom Sorensen of the Charlotte Observer of his initial sit-down with Newton, where Newton impressed him.  (As did a handwritten letter Newton sent three days later.)  One of the only questions Newton asked Richardson was about how Jimmy Clausen would greet him on the team.

On Thursday night, Newton found out.  Clausen sent Newton a congratulatory text.

Other Panthers had some fun treating Newton like a rookie.    This was the tongue-in-check message from center Ryan Kalil on Twitter:

“Congratulations to entertainer and icon, Cam Newton. Welcome to the team. -Panthers’ Offensive Line,” Kalil wrote with the picture above attached.

  1. Newton will play behind an experienced and solid O-line, I don’t think they are going to let him forget that.

  2. Congratulations to the fraud, liar, and son of a pimp. Now your daddy won’t have to depend on Auburn to fix his financial problems, you can slide him some cash under the desk instead

  3. The mike was pulled on little Adam from the Make A Wish foundation when he revealed his most fervent desire was to “see someone take a baseball bat to that hideous horse head grille once and for……”.

  4. I see some of the immature crowd is out and in full support of their pesonal issues.

I took a trip over to the Panthers website. I saw the interview Hurney and Rivera did yesterday. It’s clear that all you haters did was give them reason to check Cam background out more thoroughly than any other athlete they have ever had and help them to walk away being “even more IMPRESSED” with Cam.

Even more sad is that your malicious and relentless attack on this kid made Hurney get excited when the reporter said that announcing Cam as the Pamthers QB made the 500 plus fans, who showed up Thursday night, more excited then she has ever seen….Thank you.

See what intentional hate can do sometimes?

Come back in 3 years so I can ask you the following question.

Now do you believe he is a fraud and a bust?

Homerism and stupidity is alive and well in Carolina

—– seems those college kids just can’t get over Cam helping Auburn beat their team.

One would think by now you would be over it.
“Now do you believe he is a fraud and a bust?”
Do you normally do around accusing a person you never met of such accusations?
And I hope within three years him and the Panthers a even closer to winning a superbowl than they are now since Cam does have experience in taking needy teams to their NC. Just ask Blinn and Auburn.

“Homerism and stupidity is alive and well in Carolina”
See now it’s quite stupid of you to Assume I’m from Carolina. And “Homerism,” REALLY…I guess you must have “HATERISM.”

  7. I sit and read all this hate directed towards this kid. Howis he a fraud? What was fraudulent about the national championships he won in JC and at Auburn?

  8. Well played…leave it to the ol’ line to keep a rookie humble. I hope this guy is not so naive as to pull a Dez Bryant type move in training camp.

  9. if cam was a bad person the back ground check would have shown it and he wouldve been a 3rd rnd pick like mallet
ps newton is already invovled in jordan gross charity
