Lance Moore on life in limbo: “This is a horrible situation”

While 35-40 Saints work out at Tulane University, one of the team’s best role players has stayed on the sidelines out of fear.  Receiver Lance Moore doesn’t want to get injured while he’s a free agent.

“I feel like the risk is too great,” Moore told Alex Marvez and Jim Miller on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “If you get hurt down there, there’s no telling what’s going to happen.”

Moore is training on his own, hoping that the NFLPA* and league can figure out an agreement so that 2010 league rules aren’t in place again. If we go back to those restrictive rules, Moore will be a restricted free agent.

“I’m not under contract. I don’t have a team. I don’t know what my situation is going to be. This is a horrible situation for the guys that it affects the most, and that’s free agents,” Moore said. “I can’t wait for it to get over so I can finally sign with a team. Hopefully that team will be the Saints.”

As a highly productive slot receiver, Moore should get plenty of interest on the open market. We’d still guess he stays with the Saints, in part because he’s a Drew Brees favorite.

With Marques Colston and Robert Meachem becoming free agents after 2011, it would make a lot of sense for the Saints to lock down Moore now.

Moore just needs to wait for now to start, and NFL purgatory to end.

  1. lance moore has proven that given the chance he can make big plays. until last year he was hidden by the depth of receiver the saints play with, but from what i saw of the saints they need to find more ways to get this kid involved…or another team will.

  2. lance, if u havent saved enough $ to get thru this, all the horribleness is on you.

  3. Moore is hands down the most reliable receiver on our recieving core…he has to be the first free agent on the list to get a deal done….he has more than deserved it.

  4. Lance, the fans want you back in NOLA. It is best for you to stay healthy and not get injured. This will all end soon enough….. we hope.

Love that two point conversion in the SB.

  5. …and if you get hurt training on your own…???…
same difference w/o being a team player – got it!!!
Listen L.M. was the first guy they did a deal for after the Superbowl year – despite minimal playing time that year…apparently there is not another side to that coin for Lance…I hope I’m not the only one gettin’ THAT vibe…
