Not to be outdone by other teams whose players are getting together for some lockout workouts, 37 Bills players showed up on Tuesday for a player-organized session at Sahlen’s Sports Park.

The get-together featured a near-miss for running back Fred Jackson, who easily could have been injured when he overran the playing area while trying to catch an overthrown pass.

Per Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 in Buffalo, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a deep ball to Jackson. His momentum carried him into netting that lines the field, which coincides with the end of FieldTurf and the start of concrete. Buscaglia reports that Jackson stopped himself “just before a pair of coolers, escaping the moment without an injury.”

“I felt bad,” Fitzpatrick told Buscaglia. “Fred’s an athlete, as we saw there. Freddy doesn’t get hurt man, Fred just keeps going with the punches.”

Buscaglia lists the 37 players who were present for the workout. Notable absences included running back C.J. Spiller, linebacker Shawne Merriman, first-round defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, linebacker Paul Posluszny, safety Donte Whitner, and second-round cornerback Aaron Williams.
