Contact between players and NFL personnel is not allowed during the lockout, except for special cases like Tony Romo’s wedding. Or the Packers’ ring ceremony.
The Packers announced Thursday that the ceremony will take place at the Lambeau Field Atrium on June 16. The NFL granted a special exemption for the team to get back together for the first time since the Super Bowl.
“We’re looking forward to having an evening for the players, coaches and organization to recognize the victory in Super Bowl XLV,” Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said.
We highly doubt any lingering awkwardness from the work stoppage will carry over into the private event. A championship ring is a powerful drug, and it’s a lot more permanent than this lockout.
