Pat White expected to join UFL’s Destroyers

AP

Florio usually handles all the posts featuring former WVU players.

But he renounced those rights to Pat White after the former Mountaineer’s NFL career appeared to end last September, so it falls upon me to tell you what White is up to now.

The Virginia Destroyers of the UFL annouced via Twitter Thursday that White is close to signing a deal with the team.  He’s expected to make it official in the next few days.

White appeared to lose interest in football in 2010, and briefly flirted with a minor league baseball career.

The Destroyers  call him “QB” Pat White, so they will presumably use him behind center and not at another position.

  1. Good luck there Pat. I do hope it works out for you. Not every college player is suited to play in the NFL and you are a classy young man. Best wishes.

  2. As long as he’s not a starter they won’t have to change their name to the Virginia Destroyed. IF he starts…..bye bye

  3. If Pat fights his way back to the NFL i’ll applaud him. As a WVU fan i’m grateful for the success he brought us but will always resent his reluctance to study defenses and to learn check-downs.

The kid insists on playing QB yet only puts in half the work even tho he’s already smallish from the get-go.

He could’ve been a world-class WR and a hellion in the Wildcat but he’s too stupid to learn new things.

I hope the best for him, and that someday he loses that arrogance.

It’s the professional football league that will be playing actual games this fall.

  5. I was a huge Pat White fan in college, I used to love playing with West Virginia on NCAA 08 when they had him and Slaton. I think he has the right work ethic so I hope he can come back and be an impact player of some type.

That hit by Ike Taylor scared him out of the league.

Only way Pat recalls that hit is by watching the replay.

Pat couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Good luck pat.

True, but he can hit broads inside a barn with ease.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but sheesh, Miami really dropped the ball on this one.

You have to be a Pat White relative to make
    a comment like this

Good Lord ZERO completions in his NFL career
one of only a few good decisions the Dolphins have made.Good luck to the midget

  9. I was there at that game in Miami when Pat got knocked the %#!? out!!! He seriously was launched a good 10 feet from where he got hit!!! The only thing better would be to see the replay on tv if I watching the game live.

  10. …….this league is touting “Colt Brennan” as the talent-level at QB.

Pat White would instantly be the best QB in that league because……well…..

Colt Brennan is obviously hot garbage.

  11. He’s a great talent and I’m not a WVU fan, but I am someone that knows the Dolphins coaching staff could develop talent if their lives depended on it. After last year the whole coaching staff was ready to pack up and leave town, because of the horrible play.

The simple fact that he’ll never go into the college hall of fame is just a joke. Especially considering he’s the only QB to win a bowl game 4 years in a row. Not even glory boy Tebow has done that.
