Bills use members of military to model new uniforms

With current players locked out — and a certain high-profile former player locked up — the Buffalo Bills needed to find models for their new uniforms.  And so the team slapped their red, white, and blue jerseys and pants onto the men who fight for the Red, White, and Blue.

Members of the armed services modeled the new uniforms, complete with shoulder pads and padded game pants, at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Friday night.

The new uniforms are an updated version of the ensemble once the buffalo on the side of the helmet went from red and stationary to blue and running.

More pictures are available at the team’s official website, and the jerseys already are for sale.  (Note that running back C.J. Spiller has switched from No. 21 to No. 28, which was Spiller’s number at Clemson and which previously was Leodis McKelvin’s number.  Thanks to the reader who pointed that out.)

Once you get a look-see at them, let us know what you think.

  1. Using soldiers as their models was a nice idea. I take it they’re going back to the white helmets. Excellent! Those white helmets were gorgeous. Never liked the red ones. The Bills were a much-improved team last season. I’d love to see them regain their 90s glory and hear everyone just shut up about moving them away from their loyal fans.

  2. It would have made more sense to have members of the Canadian Mounted Police model these.

  3. As one of my friends used to ask years ago, “How can a ‘Rich’ Stadium have ‘Bills’?”

  4. I don’t like the jersey but the Helmet looks good. Much better than that red one that they never should have gone to.

I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s seeing the white helmets and never could get used to those red ones.

  5. as long as its the Bills’ correct

I’ll be happy. The last few years’ uniforms were hideous. Shameful in fact.

  6. I think they are great. I am a Broncos fan, and I like the older school look much better.

  7. Gotta have the standing buffalo on the helmets though, but otherwise they look pretty cool.

  8. Whether you like the new ones or not, you have to agree they’re better than the previous atrocities

  9. Honestly….the new uniforms seem a bit bland. I like the helmut, but the rest of it is too bland… Just a honest opinion.

Regardless, I like to see the Bills being proactive and marketing their franchise/brand.

  10. I don’t love it, but it’s certainly better than the last one.

The throwback uniform is much better.

  11. Love them! Reminds me of the good old days of O.J. Simpson. Pretty close. Good move by the hapless Bills.

  12. I personally like these uniforms. I am a fan of the color schemes and layouts used in uniforms in all sports from the 60s-70s. I feel like in the 90s and 2000s, teams went to less bold colors, schemes and layouts in what I feel like amounted to very monotonous uniforms. I hope that other teams take the hint and do the same. As a 49ers fan I like the current ones, but I think that teams like the Seahawks (I can’t stand their uniforms, I just think they are god awful- sorry), Patriots, Eagles, Broncos, etc. start to adopt their “throwback” uniforms permanently.

  13. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but the utmost respect for our men and women in uniform… but does anyone else think it looks like the guys on the Bills’ site were suddenly woken from a deep sleep to pose for the picture?

  14. Ugh……..still terrible. Although they are better than those god-awful unis they have worn of late (with the ugly navy thrown in for absolutely no reason)

Just go with both the SB-Jim Kelly era unis and/or the OJ era unis……..the 2 best……….stop trying to reinvent the wheel and making things worse!

  15. They actually wear buffalo hides. Those would be awesome jerseys. but to make it really awesome they would have to kill the buffalo to earn the right to wear it. nobody could beat the bills if they spent all off-season hunting and killing buffalo (with their bare hands).

  16. One thing I’ve been wondering for many years – Buffalo is the city, but what is a “Bill”??

  17. Don’t like the blue color, it should be darker like navy blue. Powder blue is definitely not flag blue and is too wimpy.

  18. This gets more ridiculous by the day. These men have WAY more important things to worry about than being runway models for some rich idiots that are fighting like cats and dogs and can’t come to an agreement over who gets what out of the billions of dollars they are making.

The team is named after Buffalo Bill Cody.
