Report: DeSean will be a NoShow

Desean+Jackson+5kn2Jh1MDmFm

On Tuesday, we reported that Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson was considering his options regarding the contractual obligation to report for duty. According to the folks at PhillySportsDaily.com, multiple sources say that Jackson won’t show up.

It remains to be seen when he’ll report. Under the rules of the Transition Year, Jackson must show up by the 23rd day of the 2011 League Year or lose his all-important fourth year of service toward unrestricted free agency.

It’s no surprise that Jackson wants a new deal. He’s grossly underpaid in light of his skills, and he’s grossly undersized in light of the game he plays.

The Eagles surely would like him to shoulder the burden of the injury risk for another year. Jackson surely would like to not do that, and to be paid for what he already has done.

This one could get interesting. Quickly.
