We noted yesterday that there were reports of the San Francisco 49ers cutting cornerback Nate Clements, and that those reports proved to be premature.
Now we can say it again: The 49ers really have decided to cut Clements, who started all 16 games last season.
According to multiple reports, the 49ers and Clements were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract, and as a result the team has informed Clements that he’ll be cut.
The interesting question now is whether this move makes the 49ers work even harder to land the biggest prize in free agency, Nnamdi Asomugha.
