49ers trying to take Olin Kreutz from Bears

When the 49ers lost center David Baas, we noted that they basically had no decent options to replace him on the roster.

And there aren’t many available in free agency.

Probably the top name out there is longtime Bears center Olin Kreutz, so it’s no surprise the 49ers have entered the bidding for him. Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com reports that the 49ers sent Kreutz a contract proposal Wednesday night.

The Bears made an offer too, but Wright’s source says " it doesn’t reflect how important he is to the team.”

Translation: We’re getting pissed off, so up your offer or we’re really going to leave after 13 years to the team.
