Chiefs get Jonathan Baldwin under contract

Largely lost in the shuffle of free agency has been the rash of draft-pick signings.  Given a rookie wage scale that has reduced significantly the sticking points of these contracts — and an unprecedented sense of urgency — the deals are getting done at a record pace.

The Chiefs have announced that former Pitt receiver Jonathan Baldwin, the team’s first round pick, has agreed to terms.

The move gives the Chiefs eight of their nine draft picks under contract.  Still unsigned is third-round linebacker Justin Houston.

  1. The Chiefs worry me – they are building a dangerous offense in KC. The Bolts and Chiefs are going to battle for division supremacy for the next many seasons to come.

The Broncos will get better under John Fox, but they will finish under 500 this year. Though Tebow doesn’t inspire much confidence.

The Raiders are poised to take a step back after losing their head coach, their best player, their starting left guard and possibly Zach Miller. And Al Davis is still running the show.

While the Chiefs and Chargers fight it out for the division title, the Broncos and Raiders will fight each other to avoid last place.

  2. I wouldn’t say that the raiders will be a bottom feeder. I think they will be in the thick of it and should have an easier schedule then the Chiefs. The Chiefs will have to play tough every week because they don’t have that many easy games.

  3. The Chiefs are quietly building a solid team. Not making much noise in the big name free agent market but they still have a ton of money they are required to spend in the new CBA.
That’s good because they are going to need some big names on defense if they plan on staying atop the AFC West.
Just ask Dick Vermeil what happens when you can’t force a punt.

  4. I hope this guy plays is good as he looks. I love the combination there TE, Bowe, Breaston, Baldwin, and Charles. all great options for the passing game. could be a good next few years for the chiefs, i hope so
