Osi shows up at camp, he’ll reportedly never talk to G.M. Jerry Reese

Giants co-owner John Mara has said that he’d like to see defensive end Osi Umenyiora and G.M. Jerry Reese work out their differences privately.

Osi has declined, publicly.

Per Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Umenyiora has made an unexpected appearance at Giants camp.  Vacchiano reports, citing an unnamed source, that Osi still wants a new contract or a trade, and that he doesn’t plan to speak to Reese “ever again.”

Umenyiora’s agent, Tony Agnone, tells Vacchiano that Osi will “very anxious to talk” to someone:  The media.

The veteran defensive end, who seemingly has been unhappy with his long-term deal since the day after he signed it, missed one practice on Friday.  He received a letter from the team advising that he’ll be fined the new maximum of $30,000 for each day missed while under contract.

  1. good for him. the guy had a great year last year and is a very good player. i just dont think the Giants care because they have like 3 guys just like him.

  2. Shockey pulled the same thing. You know what happened? THEY TRADED HIM. Giants can easily get a first rounder plus change. Just trade him.

  3. Well, if he wants to get traded, he’s going about it the right way. His problem with this whole thing is that he needs someone to want him.

  4. ughh….osi, im a huge fan…..but your BS act year after year is wearing awfully thin. learn how to act like a professional…..and if you need someone to teach you how, look no further then to your teammate, justin tuck.

i hope reese get a good deal and trades this guy…sick and tired of this juvenile garbage.

  5. I like Osi on my D-Line, but if the man wants to go elsewhere, then he should be treaded. Lots of teams could use a good DE on the QB’s blind side, the Giants should just give him his wish, take a reasonable trade from someone else and move on. It will be the start of the JPP era!

  6. Send him to Miami. Osi and Wake. Ouch.

But, it’s Miami, so I know better.

im assuming the raiders are a lot more upset over that fact than osi….who isnt a giant receiver BTW.

  8. Fine. Don’t talk to him. Just do the job you’re paid to do and leave when your contract is up.

In the meantime, just shut up!

  9. Reese said Osi would get a new contract if he played at a high level for 2 years. The year after they made this “deal”, Osi was hurt in pre-season and missed the entire season. He came back the next year, and as expected, played at a much lower level and was eventually replaced in the starting line-up. He played much better last year.
Let’s count, Osi. Jerry said, play at a high level for 2 years. You have played at a high level for 1. That means you owe the Giants one more year, and THEN talk about your paper.

Nevermind for New England. Giants wont take a 5th rounder for him.
    =====================================
What if they throw in Hanyesworth… too soon?

  11. Osi is a cry baby.. dont complain about the contract to you signed.. especially since it currently overpays you BUM.. hate guys like him

  12. So…wait…he wants a new contract, but he refuses to speak to the GM…who would be the man responsible for either negotiating a new contract or finding a trade partner. Makes total sense.

I love Osi, but this shtick is getting thin. He got a big contract several years ago, then proceeded to not play that well even before his leg injury. Last year was the first time he was back near a high level, and even then, he was terrible against the run. I want him to stay, but not if he’s going to piss and moan.

  13. id trade osi for a 2nd rounder….. hey at least we will be able to stop the run for once… teams target osi when they hand off

  14. I remember my 12 year old sister saying the same exact thing to/about my parents. “Im never talking to you again!” I bet his arms were crossed and he had his pouting bottom lip sticking out when he said that.

  15. osi has been my favorite player on the giants for years but its time for both sides to move on. send him to the raiders for ’12 and ’13 first round picks. he doesnt deserve better than that for the crap he pulls every year at this time

A first round pick for OSI lol yeah ok see how that works out for you! What are you guys smoking in NYC?

  17. Osi you crybaby. No one held a gun to your head and made you sign a contract, I would banish his ass to Buf, or Cin or somewhere that doesn’t see the playoffs except on TV. Maybe than he will aprreciate what he has

last i knew players have agents

  19. Please come to the Patriots! Vince Wilfork, Osi and Haynesworth (provided he actually passes his conditioning test) would be make qb’s crap their pants!

  20. “I’ll never speak to Reese again” – how about all those who will never cheer for you again — grow up Son

Well, obviously, your perspective must be cherished because you’re an Eagles fan.

Anyway, as for a potential trade, check the stats. Now yes, a 1st rounder might be too much. It depends on the demand for his services. But he’s an elite defensive end. He’s going to bring back a high enough pick – should he be traded.

  22. I don’t blame professional athletes for trying to get as much money as possible, it is what it is, and it’s the market rate. And i hate the Giants, but hell they gave him a 42 million dollar contract, not like they low balled him. Maybe McCoy was right when he called him a bitch…..

im an Eagles fan and i could care less if you wanna cherish my opinion. pretty dumb to say.

on to osi, i would be shocked if anyone would give up a 3rd for him. the Giants arent selling him well and when they do end up trading him, that will hurt them in the end cuz teams know the Giants dont really care if they have him or not.

  24. to the poster named “clavette”:
I know you are joking! 12′ & 13′ first rounders for that bum? I seriously doubt you will get a 1st rd pik from any team…

How about Orton for Osi straight up? You guys do need an NFL quarterback so what do you say?

Ah yes. That New York state of mind. You might get two #1’s from Toronto of the CFL if you get lucky. LOL.

  27. I have never seen a defensive end as soft as him. He acts all big and bad and threatens a hold out and then as soon as the Giants threaten him back he crumbles. Sorry Osi no one wants to pay an over hyped DE who backs down the second someone else steps up.

Theres 1 thing that can make you feel harder though, I know at least 1 person whos apparently scared of you, Lesean McCoy because I know the next time you 2 meet face to face hes going to run away from you. I just know it.

Well More Like Run Past Ya, But That’s Technically Running Away Right?

  28. 1st rounder for OSI?! ROTFFLMAO

God you people have no clue what draft picks are worth. An old DE who wants a new huge contract isnt that valuable. They’d be lucky to get OchoCinco value.

Man you NY fans are funny.

  29. ^^ Old? 29 is old?

A 29 year old pass rushing DE who notched 11.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles last year holds value in this league, whether the Eagles fan wants to admit it or not.
