The Cowboys went into the offseason wanting to upgrade at safety.

Instead, they brought back Gerald Sensabaugh.

Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Sensabaugh will get $2.5 million on a one-year contract. The team is also talking to safety Abram Elam, last with the Browns.

Sensabaugh’s contract continues a growing trend. With so many free agents and so little time to sign them, many veterans have been forced to take cheap short-term deals to stay put.
