McNabb says he no longer has to be “robotic”

Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has a very specific way he wants quarterbacks to do things.  That way clearly didn’t mesh with Donovan McNabb.

Now in Minnesota, McNabb welcomes a different approach from Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.

“Some coaches say ‘Hey, it’s my way or no way,’ ” McNabb said via the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “You become robotic. That’s when you pull away from your style of play and the way of things that got you successful. If things don’t go as well as you’d like them to, you find out what the mistake was, you correct it and you go right back and get it done.”

Musgrave welcomes input from McNabb, which is a marked change from the approach the Shanahans take.  We’re not sure whether that will make McNabb any more successful, but he knows this is likely his last best chance to resurrect his career as a quality starter.

“This is sort of my second chance away from Philadelphia,” he said.

  1. I think Mcnabb will so well. ( not the probowl ) but will do well. He still is a very good quarterback.

  2. Some people call McNabb a “system quarterback”, meaning he can’t succeed outside of his system in Philadelphia. This may or may not be true, since the only other system he’s played in is that mess in Washington that they call a professional football team. Let’s see how he does in Minnesota, then we can say for sure.

  3. Good luck 5. Hated seeing you in that ugly burgundy and gold smock. Now they got Rex, and we got Nate Allen + maybe a good player in Casey matthews. Fuh-leece-ing. Thanks for playing, enjoy your dusty trophies.

  4. I like McNabb and i think he gets alot of unfair critisism. Last year he was put in a difficult situation. Alot of qbs wouldnt have done well with what he had to work with. Hes receivers were weak and he was learning a new system in which he obviously wasnt comfortable in . I really see him doing better in Minnesota. He will have better guys to throw to with Harvin and Shiancoe and most importantly he will have a beast of a Rb to hand it off to and take pressure off him in Peterson. Call me crazy but i kinda like the Vikes to do well this year.

  5. Good thing Chilly is gone because a robot is exactly what he wanted in a quarterback. He bristled whenever Favre would change a play at the line of scrimmage. He never even spoke to Brad Johnson.

  6. “Musgrave welcomes input from McNabb, which is a marked change from the approach the Shanahans take.”

So the wristband will be written in his own handwriting then?

  7. Anybody better at deflecting blame for their own personal shortcomings than McNabb. As a Philly fan I can tell you his comments this week in re: to Eagles moves were about as hypocritical as they come. He hasn’t been a good QB in three years yet still acts like he’s an all pro. He claims to take the high road but acts like a passive aggressive little girl whenever someone says or does something to hurt his little feelings. It’s getting as old to watch as it was watching him throw worm burners every Sunday his last 3 years in Philly.

  8. McRib makes it so obvious that it still stings getting traded away by the Eagles… the vikes are going to suck suck suck agian this season!

  9. McNabb has become Doug Pederson. He’s there until the Rookie is ready to come in, be that in week 3 or week 13. McNabb won’t be the starter in 2012 either way though.

  10. What Mc5 is really saying is this: “Now I’m free to ignore the wide open TE in the flat for the first down and throw deep whenever I feel like it. Even if it’s on fourth down with the game on the line in the fourth quarter.”

  11. Vikings will make the playoffs – book it. Mcnabb will be the best qb in the division in terms of efficiency, TD-to-INT ratio. Peterson will be revitalized, the team will play defense, and Viking fans will forget #4. Book it.

  12. So in other words all of the criticism of the Redskins for ruining MCNugget is way of base. In other words, just like Buttersworth – McNabb cashed the check and then said “I do what I WAANT”.

    Ok just checking.

  14. Washed up DIVA? He may be washed up, but I under no circumstances would call him a Diva. McNabb doesn’t say much until he gets attacked by his haters.

His best years are behind him but I like the Vikings chances with him more than Jackson or any of the other bums the Vikings have at QB.

  15. Now if McChunky can figure out the difference between cleats and gloves. McChunky throws more balls at cleats then he does gloves.

  16. By robotic was he asking McNabb to not throw behind receivers and at their feet? McNabb has always excelled in those areas.

  17. Not a big McNabb Fan, but have to agree as far as coach’s demanding that he stray away from his style of play that made him successful would be tough on him. You can’t expect him to change his ways like a light switch when you been doing it for the last 10-15 years. Anyways, he’s a stand-up guy, a class act and I wish in well in Minny.

  18. John Elway: “Hello?”
Mike Shanahan: “John! John! How are you buddy!”
Elway, sounding like he’s cringing: “Oh, hi Mike.”
Shanahan: “I’m great! Just great! It’s great to talk to you!”
Elway: “Um, yeah. So, what’s up?”
Shanahan: “Oh, you know, I just wanted to call you and thank you for providing me with a career!”
Elway: “Yeah, um, Mike, I’ve told you a few hundred times now, these calls need to stop.”
Shanahan: “Ok, ok Johnny! Anything you say! It’s just, well, I just can’t help myself. You were so good to me.”
    Elway: click.

  19. Listen up, McNabb will do well if not very well and he’ll have fun doing it. If the right tackle position holds up McNabb will have a terrific season. I am not a big McNabb fan but I do think he will come close to shocking eveyone who has unjustly written him off. The Vikings biggest problem in the near future is the right tackle positon and the fact that Christian Ponder will be better than advertised and not being a dummy may be ready to start by midseason. I am not saying the Vikings will go 12-4 or 10-6, I am saying they will definitely be better than everybody thinks!

  20. @alphaq2 says: Enjoy the tumbleweed rolling through your trophy case.

I say: Oh I will. I most certainly will enjoy my team. I will enjoy the tumbleweeds, the sky-is-the-limit promise, the established quarterback, the explosiveness, the absence of any totally embarrassing disorganization from the top of the organization down, and all. Totally embarrassing, skins. Just atrocious. Again, enjoy your dusty trophies. So dusty. I used to respect you.

    E – A – G – L – E – S EAGLES!

Testify. It’s right outside your door.

  21. @jpk6044

You might want to go back and learn a little something about Elway’s career. Let me get you started by suggesting you look at the last couple of years Elway had under Reeves and the two years he had under Wade Phillips before Shanny got there. Then look at the rebuild Shanny did by signing Gary Zimmerman to a free agent contract, completely rebuilding the O-Line, and drafting Terrell Davis. Imajustsayin’

Oh you sure showed that guy by admitting that your franchise hasn’t won any championship in the last 45 plus years….great one…
    Total Zinger!

  23. @eaglesnoles05

You can kick us while we’re down all you want. You realize that we split with you last year. You can crow all you want. Win one. Just one.

  24. I am so sick of this guy already, just shut up and play football. After 11 years of his passive aggressive bs, I am just don’t want to hear his opinion anymore. As a Philly fan I am coming to the realization that TO was right about this chump. Hey Minnesota wait to there’s a close game and he starts firing passes at receivers ankles and just flat out chokes. Well at least you won’t have to worry about the playoffs…

  25. Kyle Shannahan is silver-spooned fooled who have never showed he has the ability to run an offense. Until he loses his Josh McDaniels attitude, and stops emulating Brad Childress, he simply will bring teams frustration.
I predict at that at some point, a player is going to punch him square in the face.

  26. At this point its pretty clear that Reid and Morningwheg are responsible for mcnabbs success more so than Donny is. Here is a list of guys they have worked with: favre, young, mcnabb, garcia, feeley (turned him into 2nd rd pick), Kolb (2nd rd pick), Vick

  27. flagstaffphotos says

    ________________________________

I agree with everything you said except that Mcnabb has no chance at being better than Rodgers in anything im sorry. You can book that.

  28. @ eaglesnoles05

Macke fun of the “dusty trophies” but they sure look a lot better in the trophy case than Zero Trophies.

I’ll take dusty over zero any day of the week.

But we agree you did fleece us and McNabb sucks. Given this why do you use his number in your name — are you a fan of sucky players?

  29. I Mc5 on the Vikings. I would like him more if they sign Floyd and find a LT. PEterson can make a defense slide 8 in the box if he is healthy and Mc5 still has a top 6 deep ball. I’ll take the Vikings third in the north behind the PAckers and Lions and if they finished first i would not be shocked.

Though i do think right now the PAckers will win tht division i would also not be surprised if they finished last either. The barely made the playoffs last year and really didn’t do much to get better this offseason (the injuries i know, i thought that too then i looked up what they really lost and which of those players are on the team this year. The only important player is the TE and even though imo Finley could one day be the best hes a still TE, not exacty impact position. You could say the runnign back but i think the guy from last year is better than Grant anyway who i never thought was great ) The PAckers have wholes even though Packers fans don’t want to admit it. The Oline can be solid or it can be terrible. They lost Jenkins who if PAckers fan are objective will admit was huge loss as he was the guy taking up two blockers to get Clay free to rush the Passer.( i also believe if healthy all season Jenkins will be in the DPOY mix) Jenkins was the most underated signing by the Eagles i think he will be even better in a 4-3 where with his speed he just rush past guards.

Aaron Rodgers is a top 5 QB no doubt but if that Oline fails which it could and it did last year. They held up well in the playoffs, but can they repeat that all year in a more competative division this year? Also the corners who played so well on the outside are both younger guys who had really good playoff runs but not stellar seasons. Can Woodson still play how he has?? Do they move him full time to safety ???? I think the PAckers have a ton of questions that winning a title is keeping people from asking.

They seem to be a team that caught lightning in a bottle more than a dynasty. Remember the Giants a few years ago. They looked a lot a like.

Oh before the Green bay fans jump down with the ” How many titles have the Eagles won” crap, lest us not forget the only time lombardi lost in the playoffs was against the Eagles in 1960. and you could say that was forever ago but it was only a few years before the superbowl started. besides i am just stating the truth.

So if MC5 can play well and that defense can play well this season and get a good pass rush the Vikings have just a good shot as any of the 4 teams to win that division. If you look at it objectively and without the on their knees for Rodgers feel the media has you should be able to see any of these teams winning. And i think the Vikings are a LT and WR away from being pretty good.

  30. @eaglesnoles

Umadbrah?…Skins have nothing to lose….This may be your only chance to put something,anything..anything at all…in your trophy case.

  31. You wouldn’t think you’d have to have a “robot” just to throw a ball at the receiver’s feet.

But in this case, maybe that’s why McNabb did that function so, well, robotically.

To that I can only say, Bad Robot!

  32. “Vikings will make the playoffs – book it. Mcnabb will be the best qb in the division in terms of efficiency, TD-to-INT ratio. Peterson will be revitalized, the team will play defense, and Viking fans will forget #4. Book it.”

Really? Well, the Vikings would disagree with you…since they would much rather have had Tyler Thigpen than McNabb.

If Tyler Thigpen wanted to play for the Vikes, McNabb would be retired.

    Think about that.

  33. Oh good! McNabb no longer is being forced to be robotic. Now we’ll see his more natural inclination-idiotic!

  34. thats how it works

the owner pays the coaches to tell you what to do.

im sure every owner in the league would let the player tell the coaches “this is how i’m going to do it” if they pay the coaches salary.

  35. Um, robotic? Kyle Shanahan?

Let’s see, McNabb played for Brad Childress in Philly, the ultiimate control freak, who wouldn’t even let his QBs call an audible. Col. Klink even went ballistic on Favre when #4 had the nerve to call audibles, including one that went for a TD.

Shanahan worse than Childress? I don’t think so. At least Shanahan is still coaching.

  36. As Donovan was leaving the room, he missed the door. Then kept backing up and reaching for the spot the door knob should be. Over and over and over again.

  37. Pacash80 refers to the Redskins as “that mess in Washington”……correct me If I`m wrong but did`nt Minnesota finish 6 and 10 just like the Redskins did???.Show me the proof that Minnesota is better……Someone said the Redskins receivers were awful compared to Percy Harvin and Visanthe Shiancoe…..Really????

Percy Harvin 71 Rec. 868 yds
Santana Moss 93 Rec. 1115 yds

Vishanthe Shiancoe 47 Rec. 530 yds
Chris Cooley 77 Rec. 871 yds.

Now it seems to me that you just glanced at the Redskins and just assumed that their recievers are the worse ever. The only advantage McNabb will have in Minnesota is that beast Adrian Peterson! Do not sleep on the Skins recievers!!!

  38. There is no way in hell that the Vikings make the playoffs. The Vike’s have regressed on defense, and your OL has become a liability. Also, besides the injury plagued Percy Harvin ( who will be constantly jammed at the line with a safety over the top) who else ya got, Berrian hahaha. Besides that McNabb is well over the hill, and not mobile at all. I’ll set the line for the number of games he plays at 8.

  39. Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto,
(And thank you very much oh Mr. Roboto,
For helping me escape just when I needed to)

    fits perfectly!!! ala styx

It was YOU who wanted to play for that godforesaken team (crapskins) anyway Donnie!!!

Thank the lord you are not there anymore…. Good luck in Minny!

    ———————————————

People like you are the reason that we Eagles fans have a rep for being ungrateful and unintelligent. McNabb wasn’t Joe Montana when it comes to pressure situations, nor was he Tom Brady or Peyton Manning in terms of leadership, I’ll give you that. But between 250 – 350 yards passing in the Super Bowl (don’t feel like looking it up), 3 TDs and 2 picks (I’m not counting the desperation heave at the end of the game as a pick). Look at the body of work, and consider that he was throwing to the likes of Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston types of receivers for the majority of his career. On top of that, he’s a well-spoken individual that, despite being provoked multiple times by Bernard Hopkins and Terrell Owens, always takes the high road and is cordial in his comments. I was included in the thousands screaming obscenities at McNabb when he had a bad possession, made a stupid throw, or stubbornly didn’t get rid of the ball. But all in all, I loved this dude, and if you google greatest QBs of all time, he sits at most countdowns between 20 and 30. He’s a Hall of Famer, and the greatest QB in Eagles history. Period.

  41. Hey, Don….BOO!!! We miss seeing your “worm-burners” i.e. swings passes or checkdowns thrown at one’s feet. That only hit the blades of grass!!!

  42. Always pointing the blame at someone else. As an Eagles fan this is why I never fully bought into McNabb. Never once after a loss did he stand up and say…This is on me. I take responsibility for this loss. He was always pointing the finger at someone else. He is such a drama queen crybaby

  43. I love how people say Shanahan on won his SBs because of Elway. If that’s the case, then let’s have a look at how many SBs Elway won without Shanahan as HC?

A coach needs a QB and a QB needs a coach. That’s how you win SBs.

  44. “This is sort of my second chance away from Philadelphia,” he said.

ahahahaha I love it, best QB the Eagles ever had.

  46. Oh skins fans….

Prrrrretty sure all I came to say on this mcnabb article (see post one) is that i respect mcnabb, hated him playing for the skins, and the eagles beat the skins on that mcnabb trade. I think that’s pretty obvious. I think we all also can agree that the eagles are better than the redskins right now, which is all that matters to any of the current players, coaches or anyone in the organization. The opposing view is kindof ridiculous, totally fan based, and stems directly from the enjoyment skins fan continue to get from the super bowls they won long ago. They are dusty. Anyone should be able to enjoy past championships, and I know you enjoy yours. I sure wish I had some to enjoy, but here I am having to settle fro being a fan of a team that at least currently looks like they have any clue whatsoever about things, instead of…well…you guys. That’s a good feeling. Zing or not.

Call a spade a spade- we are better than you now, from the owner to the kicker. You got us in the dusty trophies contest though.

    Testify again.

  47. has there been anybody that has gone to the 4skins past or present that has succeeded? Its called a dynsfunctionally run organization.

they are destined for last place again and have picked up players that other teams do not want at high prices too. Once weasel boy dumps shanny and co they are right back to where they started. Last place…Mcnabb..be happy they let you go….Boys will win the NFC EASt too…book it Dano!!!!LMAO.

  48. I actually believe McNabb does well in Minnesota. He was a great QB between the 20s. McNabb always had trouble finding receivers in the more congested red-zone, but maybe AP fixes helps alleviate that issue?

  49. @macwomack- 5 has always been my sports #! I owned it before mcnabb, he just made it a star 😉

  50. @dirtydrynn27

You present some fair points, but as a whole you can’t tell me that the Redskins have an overall better team, coaching staff and organization that the Vikings. It is common knowledge that Dan Snyder has ran the Redskins into the dirt.

  51. “flagstaffphotos says:

Hmm… not saying Donny Mac is a bad QB or wasn’t a good move by the Vikings (he’s an average QB and it was def. a good move by the Vikings), but saying he’s going to have a better year than Rodgers? Or that the Vikings will make the playoffs?

The Packers and Rodgers will win the division and if there is a wildcard team coming out of the North it’s gonna be the Bears or maybe the Lions.

The Vikings just don’t have the talent in place this year. They lost a lot to free agency and their replacement for McKinnie is apparently getting turnstiled at practice on a regular basis. Not good for either AP or Donny Mac.

Not to mention they are relying on Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian to be their receivers. Even Favre who has a habit of making mediocre receivers look good (Antonion Freeman and Bill Shroeder anyone?) couldn’t do anything with them.

No, I’m afraid the only thing the Vikings will be booking during the playoffs are vacation plans.

  52. boysroll says: Aug 5, 2011 1:13 PM

Boys will win the NFC EASt too…book it Dano!!!!LMAO.

hahahahahahahhahahahahahaha, OMFG!! FOR REAL, a 6-10 team is gonna beat the birds and giants for the east!?!??

This is a comedy skit, right!?! You’re TRYING to be funny!?!? Cause right now I am rolling on the freaking floor laughing my butt off!!!

Good stuff, but don’t quit you day job!

  53. I wish McNabb well, now that the Eagles don’t have to face him twice a year. But if the Vikings are “lucky” enough to play the Eagles in the playoffs, all bets are off.

  54. McNabb got the Eagles further than they’ve gone without him.

Washington will be lucky to do any better this season.

Until both of those things change, fans of his former teams have nothing to talk about.

McNabb has his flaws, but I’d lke to see him have one more career-defining year, as Favre did his first year in MN. Like to see him go out on a high note.

  55. “Robots don’t get tired in the fourth quarter.”

Or throw up in the Super Bowl

  56. Once again, the pathetic insecure Eagles fans are all over McNabb… hoping and praying that he doesn’t succeed.

Get a life, losers. If he’s is as bad as you say, why are you wasting so much energy reading everything about him and chiming in with your opinions? Answer: Because you know he actually can still play, and you are scared to death he might come back to bite the Eagles in the a$$.

Speaking of the Eagles, you heard it here first: Vick will get snapped in half at some point this season, and your so-called “dream team” will collapse like a house of cards.

  57. Who did Mcnabb ever blame for any shortcomings. Some people always say that, I’m an eagles fan the whole time he was there. He simply never blamed anyone. Were is one quote that he blamed someone. You idiots like to take a quote and Imply something but I’m waiting. Give me one quote……….I’m waiting

  58. People that go to sleep on the Vikings need to realize a few things:

    1) Last season had a TON of crazy stuff go wrong with it. And they still went 6-10 in probably the toughest division in football (based on both NFC champ game teams). I’m not trying to say 6-10 is good, but when you lose 2 home games (both losses for a team that wins most home games even when they suck), a pro bowl WR, your QB regresses from top 3 to bottom 3 and gets hurt, and your coach loses the locker room…and you still win 6 games, that means there was still a bit of talent there. Hell there are healthy teams with good coaches that can’t manage 4 wins every year.

    2) Their defense did regress last season but was still a top 10 defense by most basic metrics and they dealt with injuries and mayhem.

    3) Adrian Peterson.

I’m not saying they should be favorites or whatever and I’m very concerned about the oline and defense. Very, very concerned. But only an idiot homer would be shocked if this team won the division or went to the playoffs and their opinions dont’ matter anyways.

Sure Green Bay won the superbowl and was great in the postseason but up until the playoffs they were just a wildcard team that hasn’t won the division since Favre left and barely made the playoffs last two years. Who seriously would be “shocked” if they lost one more game this season and fell short? Bears are aging big time, more even than the Vikes.

    There is definately hope here.

  59. Anyone here that backs McNabb never had him play for their team. He cries, whines and blames everyone but himself. He throws the ball consistantly into the turf and rarely leads a receiver. Yes, he has a low interception total because he is so inaccurate even the defender is caught off guard.

He is a product of Andy Reid. See his 2010 debacle in Washington…Rex Grossman? That is pretty bad.

  60. The Vikings needed a solid veteran QB to come in to allow Christian Ponder to sit and develop and not be forced into the offense right away. Vikings fans should look at McNabb for what he is, which ultimately is a place holder until Ponder is ready to take over. There isn’t any shame in that given that he’s had a long, productive career and will be remembered as a pretty good QB overall. The way I see it, if McNabb is able to revive his game and make a difference in Minnesota’s offense, it’s a bonus because no one is expecting the guy to come in and light up the division.

  61. @jrmbadger

Just a couple rebuttals…. I tend to agree with most of your post, but there are a couple fallacies.

“The Vikings just don’t have the talent in place this year. They lost a lot to free agency and their replacement for McKinnie is apparently getting turnstiled at practice on a regular basis.”

This is the first. The Vikings are returning 6 players who have been to the PB in the last 2 years, and while losing Rice does hurt, the other FAs lost are jackson, who they did not try to retain, and M Williams, who they cut. And Leber, but he’s still available…. And McKinnie’s replacement, Charlie Johnson, styarted 54 games for the Colts. You don’t do that if you can’t play. He isn’t the answer at LT, but he will be servicable while they find it, and then be a good G.

“Not to mention they are relying on Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian to be their receivers. Even Favre who has a habit of making mediocre receivers look good (Antonion Freeman and Bill Shroeder anyone?) couldn’t do anything with them.”

Actually, the only sure bet is Harvin. They are throwing a bunch of things at the wall and seeing what sticks.. Berrian, Jenkins, Aromashodu, Arceneaux, Jaymar johnson, Iglesias, possibly another FA pickup…. And I’ll take the chance of sounding like a broken record when I say….Andre Holmes!!! I know I’m right about this guy!

“No, I’m afraid the only thing the Vikings will be booking during the playoffs are vacation plans.”

You may very well be right. But the possibility exists for this team to come together well and make a serious run. That will be a shock to those who only listen to the talking heads, but it shouldn’t come as a shock to those who actually pay attention and formulate their own opinions.

  62. eaglesnoles05 …

    Dusty trophies – Redskins
    Superbowl MVP QBs – Redskins

    Zero trophies – Eagles
QBs that throw at the receivers feet – Eagles
QBs that choke (and vomit) in the big game – Eagles
Winners of the McNabb to DC trade – Eagles
Most annoying Fans in football – Eagles

Ok ok I give up… you win. The Eagles do seem to beat the Skins in some major categories. Hope your Nate Allen works out for you because McNabbs legacy as an Eagle leaves a lot to be desired. But if Nate Allen develops as a superstar and the Eagles get one trophy (instead of zero) McNabbs legacy will be the guy whou couldn’t get it done but at least got the Eagles a superstar DB.

That legacy kinda pales in comparision to Baugh, Jurgenson, Williams, Rypien oh and even Theismann (ha ha ha).

But then again call me dusty I love the memories (and apparently you do too beacuse you are still clinging to your favorite sports number).

Even though you call though you call them Dusty Trophies at the end of the day they’ll be all you have … oh and you have none.

  63. @boysroll

We agree the skins are dysfunctional – how sad is it then that they did better last year then that highly functional, play-off wining team out of Dallas… oh table that…. no need to respond.

I would think that most fans of “boys” would be more aware of their record.

  64. McNabb sucked last year. Its so old hearing everyone say hes a HOF QB and it was all Shanahans fault. Sure they mabye hurt his feelings but oh well… He played like crap and deserved to be benched.

  65. Why is it that packer fans have all the records figured out and the playoff slots filled before every season?

It must be a Wisconsin phenomena. I live here and once the schedules come out in the spring, it’s the same thing every year.

Newsflash. The Packers may have been one of the weakest teams to win a super bowl.

I forsee a crash back into reality this year.

The Great and Powerful Ragnar Chicken has spoken.
So sayeth the sheperd, so sayeth the flock.

  66. “This is sort of my second chance away from Philadelphia,” he said.
    —————————————————————

’cause that first “second chance” went so well, right?

    Seriously, benched for Rex Grossman?

    REX GROSSMAN!!!!

  67. He won’t have to be a robot = he won’t have to read the playbook/know the plays/call the plays as written by his supervisors.

  68. When he & Haynesworth end up in the probowl this season, it will be further evidence that Shanahan is not a good HC.

Anyone here that backs McNabb never had him play for their team.
    ====================================

Not so fast. I’m an Eagles fan, and I can’t disassociate myself from the McNabb haters fast enough. He was the most underappreciated athlete in Philly history, hands down. You all love to talk about worm burners and air guitar, but you never talk about playoff wins (which there were more of than playoff losses), the dignity he showed during the Rush and T.O. nonsense, or having one of the best games of his career on a broken ankle.

I love the Eagles, but I don’t always love being one of their fans.

  70. Were is one quote that he blamed someone. You idiots like to take a quote and Imply something but I’m waiting. Give me one quote……….I’m waiting
    ————
Among the people he blamed for losses (mostly his own chokes)

    TO
    Eagles Defense
Eagles “young recievers” (you want a quote, google “we showed our youth”)
Eagles front office (see his recent rant on how they never spent money when he was there)
    Redskins O-line
    Redskins coaches
    Redskins recievers

Do I need to go on?

This guy is super passive aggressive, totally not classy at all, and constantly throws his teammates, coaching staff, and ownership under the bus. He has never in his career taken responsibility for any loss.

He just got benched for REX GROSSMAN. At some point, you’re not just a victim of circumstances. You’re just not good any more. But w/e. Donovan apologists will never admit he’s ever done a bad thing in his entire career. He’s the best quarterback in NFL history. Montana is nothing compared to him.

  71. @moochzilla

” “Vikings will make the playoffs – book it.

actually your logic fails. just because someone think A is better than B it doesn’t prove C is better than B or that someone thinks C is better than B.
    A= Thigpen
    B=Mc5
    C= (you guessed it) Rogers

But I don’t believe Mc5 will out perform Rogers. I think Rogers is an excellent QB. But please people, make sound arguments. I don’t have time to comment on everything posted.

McRib makes it so obvious that it still stings getting traded away by the Eagles… the vikes are going to suck suck suck agian this season!

    —————————————————–

Drinking before noon makes you look even more ridiculous.

  73. I noticed McNabb’s been saying things like this a lot. He’s so happy to have the freedom to have input in the offense. He has the freedom to make suggestions. In Minnesota they don’t want him to be so much a robot, except to go out in play

    …Basicaly, McNabb sounds like Haynesworth.

Wasn’t this pretty much exactly what Haynesworth was saying? “Let me do what I want. Let me be me, let me play my game. When I was in Tennessee our DC would come up with these elaborate plays, but he just let me go out and do what I want.” Same thing here, only McNabb a better promoter of himself.

I hate two faced people. I know he’s gone, but this friggin’ McNabb thing is going to haunt us all season, and we all know it. Haynesworth I can deal with. But McNabb? He infuriates me. What did we do but mortgage a huge part of our future to trade for him, and sign him to a fat contract in an effort to actually motivate him?

And what did he do? He was lazy. He had crappy tempo in practice. He had bad tempo in games. Throw a bad pass then smile and saunter back into the huddle. His agent to attack our head coach after they did everything possible to hide the fact that the McNabb experiment was a bust. And yeah, Mike shouldn’t have made the trade, but I’m just tired of this “Kyle never adjusted to him, why trade for him if you’re not going to adjust to his strengths.” The more I hear and the more that comes out, the more games I remember, the more I see Kyle trying to adjust to McNabb’s game, but McNabb being incapable of adjusting himself. The hell was Kyle supposed to do, blow up his whole playbook that helped develop Matt Schaub into a franchise caliber quarterback and start from scratch running what they ran in Phily? Effing ridiculous.

Whatever happened to showing up in being a pro, and being in shape? I know things weren’t ideal. We’ve heard about the lack of weapons and the o-line. But somehow Rex managed to look more efficient, and that in and of itself is a bold statement. Rex comes in cold after not starting for God knows how long and in three games had the same number of multiple touchdown games McNabb had; two.

Now McNabb’s getting out worked by one of the most inconsistent quarterbacks in history and two career back-ups who, for all intents and purposes, with any other coach, would never see the friggin’ football field, while Minnesota hitches it’s wagon to another broken down, aging quarterback.

I mean…this is twice! Twice where McNabb has been moved because of better options, or at least less dramatic options. Andy Reid knew his time was up, Mike learned the hard way.

And even better, EVEN BETTER, is that it sounds like McNabb is going to find himself in exactly the same situation he was last year. Their offensive line sucks. His only weapons to speak of are Percy Harvin, a slot receiver, his tight end in Shiancoe, and AP in the backfield. Better than Cooley, Portis and Moss, maybe But still. And they have an aging defense.

Screw this guy and his lack of work ethic and his butt hurtness over the fact that Kyle DARE suggest that, in an offense predicated on timing and precision, he work on his footwork and make the right amount of hitches. It’s going to blow up in Minnesota’s faces, just like it blow up in ours.

  74. Why all the hatin’ on McNabb? Sure he’s fatter and slower. Good arm yet. The ‘Skins are one of the most dysfunctional places in the NFL along with Oakland. Has anything good happened there in a long time? See where it goes. Think he’ll be better but not a world-beater. They were saying the same things about Favre a few years ago.

  75. i like so far what i’ve seen in mc5. hes in camp. hes throwing nice. hes helping out ponder. we didn’t give up much for him.

  76. Bottom line is Mcnabb has had a tremendous career … He willies than likely make the HOF….for people to bash him like they have in his career is ridiculous. I am a Vikings fan and have zero emotional attachment to him either way. But as a fan of football, hearing people bash on him in this site just erases any credibility there may be.
He is and has been elite, last years stop was a mess but that reflects on the team more than him.
Vikings are going to have growing pains the next couple years but having ponder learn from a stud like Mcnabb will only strengthen the Vikings and Pomders career.
Especially the Eagle fans, shame on you! To have your team be so competitive for all those years, he never had a fair shake! Imagine if he felt like the city was behind him????? You probably would have had several titles…. Fools

871 yds.
    ————————————————–
Thanks for setting the record straight. Folks always assume that the Skins are this bad team without checking out their performance. Cowboys were 6-10 as a bunch of other teams that folks think are better than the Skins. Just wait and see this year. Skins should have been 8-8 last year if not for their kicker. It’s nauseating. Hail!!

So sayeth the sheperd, so sayeth the flock

*****So sayeth the all powerful Idiot—Paul Hargis. This guy keeps getting dumber. The Packers dominated in the playoffs. They won three road playoff games. Newsflash Moron….weak teams don’t win three road playoff games. Their point differential in the regular season was 2nd in the league…..behind only the Patriots.

Are they going to win the division this year….who knows…..but probably. They are absolutely stacked on offense and dipsh!ts like Hargis know it….they just don’t want to admit it.

One thing that you can count on….The Vikes will be awful this year. I don’t see them winning one divisional game. I just don’t see it.

McNabb looks like he is fat. Bad sign for an old QB with a sieve for an OL.
