Eagles quarterback Mike Vick joined Mike Missanelli of 97.5 the Fanatic in Philly on Friday, and Vick talked about a couple of items of particular concern to Eagles fans.

He said he welcomes the hype and the attention that comes from adding a bunch of players, in part because “teams are always gonna try to get me.” But as it relates to the comments of Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who said the Cowboys will “beat [the] ass” of the “all-hype team,” Vick said “I was mad about that,” adding that the comments in his view were “inappropriate.”

“We don’t talk,” Vick said. “We got about our business the right way. And, you know, maybe we’ll make him eat his words.” (Some would say that Ryan eats pretty much everything else.)

Vick also predicted that receiver DeSean Jackson will “make the right decision” when it comes to showing up by August 9 in order to get a year of credit toward free agency. (Then again, Vick said he called Jackson Thursday, but DeSean didn’t “make the right decision” to call back.) Vick also strongly implied that he has been advising Jackson to return to camp.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Vick reluctantly confirmed something we reported late last week -- that the Eagles already are talking to Vick about a long-term contract. “I wanna be here,” Vick said. “I wanna play for Andy [Reid] through the rest of my career.”

Overall, Vick sounds loose and confident and ready to have another good season. If talks go well, it’ll be the first of many more.
