We hesitate to pass along too many practice injury stories. It’s usually hard to tell at first how serious the injury is, but we couldn’t help but notice the widespread tweeting from Lions practice when running back Mikel Leshoure went down.

“Left leg injury for Mikel Leshoure. Being carted off the field. Looks bad,” Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News wrote. “They were working around the ankle and Achilles area.”

Leshoure was drafted in the second round to complement Jahvid Best as a power back. They have veteran Maurice Morris in the No. 3 role.

Detroit’s top draft pick Nick Fairley has been out of camp following foot surgery.

UPDATE: Leshoure is out for the year. Ouch.
