Wilf not fazed by L.A. progress, says Arden Hills stadium deal is close

With AEG moving closer toward getting an NFL stadium built in L.A. and needing only a NFL team (or two) to play there, the Vikings have drawn plenty of attention as a potential tenant in the to-be-built venue.

And for good reason. When their Metrodome lease expires after the 2011 season, the Vikings will be free agents, able to move anywhere with no financial ramifications.

Asked about the situation in L.A., Wilf said (via Rochelle Olson of the Minneapolis Star Tribune), “[W]e’ve got momentum here in Arden Hills.”

Both Wilf and team V.P. of stadium wrangling Lester Bagley said that a deal for a new stadium is close. They are hopeful that a special session of the Minnesota Legislature will be called in the fall for the purposes of finalizing a project that would be financed both publicly and privately.
