The Green Bay Packers’ all-time leading rusher is calling it a career.
Ahman Green will formally announce his retirement at Lambeau Field tonight, the Packers have announced.
If you were under the impression that Green was already retired, you’re not alone. But Green had considered playing this year in either the UFL (with the Omaha Nighthawks) or the CFL (with the Montreal Alouettes) before finally deciding to hang up the cleats.
Green played in 1998 and 1999 with the Seahawks, from 2000 to 2006 with the Packers, in 2007 and 2008 with the Texans, and then finished his NFL career in 2009 by returning to the Packers. Overall Green had 2,056 carries for 9,205 yards and 60 touchdowns in his NFL career.
Green will be a sideline analyst with Big Ten Network this year, starting with the season opener of his alma mater, Nebraska, on September 3.
